Thank you!
More citroens tend to leak fuel from the top of the tank, the Diesel actually does this very heavily and I plan to change the seal of the fuel sender. But Liz' car does not leak there at all. The strange thing is that it isn't all the time. Now I know that petrol once escaping a bit, evaporates immediately but you must at least be able to see it escape or smell it when your head is on top of all-petrol related systems..
I'll be careful with the seats when being oily

since it's my job anyhow to keep those cars clean. Quite hard having a dog too...

There is and arrow on the fuel sender to mark its correct rotational position.
Put it anywhere else and the ring screws up tight but does not seal.
For petrol leakage check the fuel hoses where they rise drivers side in the back of the engine bay.
Changes from steel pipe to rubber have a habit of weeping from small cracks in the rubber.
Urgent you track down and cure the actual problem.
Some very scary photos on here of Andmcit's red Mk2 petrol 2.0 (TCT?) as a black burnt out shell at the roadside.
He only just made it out to be able to get the photo.

New fuel hoses fitted in the meantime, they are a safer feeling but the smell remains.
My next bet are the injector sealing's. There is no visible/detectable leaks there of course, but it might be a tiny problem there. Only thing is, where am I going to find new ones..is it possible I will go to this dealer which is the worst in the world

but..
First I will try and see if they are of similar built as the xantia 1.8 ones, because I still have a set of those somewhere.
Other than that, the car is going fabulously.

I also now know, that burst tyres on XM's feel different than on Xantia's. Don't know what good it will do but at least got home safely once again.

New tyres on the way.
ah well, still like sunroofs and citroens. Down poors were extreme. I'm sure I can fix that with the help of Russ. I even have a spare sunroof
But it's not this citroen that's leaking....it's the other one meaning I will get rain on my head

What is it Russ, the antenna seal can leak I suppose, water came through the courtesy lights..It was just chance I was driving the fast one

If your getting water through the courtesy light unit Jaap, then it's your Ariel....had that on the journey home from picking it up last year. Milton Keynes and its roundabouts!!
Drop the light unit and get to the sunroof motor and see if any water is seeping through one of the screws that holds it up.
A squirt of sealant will sort that out. Otherwise drop the extra little sun visor behind the mirror and you'll see the Ariel bolt.
I'm going to seal that too on mine. Won't hurt.
So what caused your tyre blow out.....pothole? Looks nasty.

I think the tyre just failed. It wasn't a pothole or anything I noticed. It looks like a bullet hole

That tyre looks worn out, how old is it.
It may have gone out of round due to cord failure, so has worn a patch.

That's what I think it was. It was a 2006 tyre and still legal but on it's way out, in fact I already ordered new ones a fort night ago. But I don't know what happened to the picture, it looks strange

I am struggling to understand your comments about the tyre not being strong enough when it has simply worn right down through the cords.
