Re: My Citroen XM Prestige
A full drain is appealing its true but my experience shows that once you have a clean box and you do the partial change every year which in my case is 1-3k it doesnt get dirty at all so a full change isnt really required, i will mull it over as i am debating on a T/C rebuild as its pretty cheap on one hand but the T/C is very rarely the cause of issues on the other, most i have seen that are not abuse related are just valve block springs and reg seals so fairly easy jobs to do in the car.
I need to get the engine done and dusted first before i start on the box anyway, one thing at a time.

Re: My Citroen XM Prestige
yeah but if these weights are correct then why would the V6 get different damper rates and a larger ARB? if these stated weights are indeed correct then an Automatic 2.0i would be heavier in the nose than a manual V6..........
The V6 block is much lighter than the 2.0 so is the V6 inlet manifold, the V6 has two cylinder heads and two exhaust manifolds though and the exhaust headers most certainly contain more gravity than the 2.0i ones because it doesnt have any.
I want to weigh them both now to see if this is right or not.
I do know that a manual 2.5 is the heaviest though, but narrower than the Auto PRV.

Re: My Citroen XM Prestige
I expect that the damper ratings are related to performance rather than weight. The V6 would have to remain stable at over 140 mph rather than 120 and at that speed you can't have any hint of bounce.
Think of a 1.9 GTI vs 1.1 Petrol.

Re: My Citroen XM Prestige
The PRV has the same gearing as the 2.0i with slightly larger diameter wheels and if you believe official figures has a top speed of 134mph, ish.
It is a valid point though and I hadn't thought about the handling at speed aspect of the setup so you could well be right there, given faster acceleration would call for higher damping to keep things under control too.
