Electric arm rest picks its power up from one of the window switches. So that should be an easy change. The armrest isn't factory on your car. It was only factory on sei cars. Or exclusive on S2 cars. I cannot Remeber if its one I fitted or not.

yes i'm thinking that would be the easiest way myself to do it

spheres are getting replaced on the 14th by westroen in manchester, i suspect that will show a suspension ECU fault needing diodes

now, i'm wondering if it would be easier to just put a replacement ECU on it?

No. As it may too also be faulty. Just get the diodes in your ecu changed... They are Vn05 diodes.

The Vn05 are the solid state relays, which MAY become damaged if the diodes in the electrovalves fail.

Either fit a pair of diodes into the loom near the Ecu, or open the Ecu and install them inside.

IF the hydractive 2 system isn't working, it may start to function with working diodes installed.
You should be able to read fault codes on H2 Ecu, using a blink code reader.

Lexia will work.

To test if the electrovalves are working disconnect the Ecu white connector, connect a 12v test lamp to Batt +ve then touch the probe to White connector Pin 1, then Pin 2 to energise the respective electrovalve.

If you can't hear the electrovalve operate, run the engine and see if the system switches from hard to soft mode as the connection is made.

you know what, nothing to report

it's being reliable!

getting the timing belt done by a mobile mechanic on monday, both aux belts are staying, whilst they're likely old they look perfectly fine and it's less disasterous if they fail

spheres are being replaced by Westroen in Manchester on thursday as part of my super long road trip i'm doing in it next weekend

otherwise, it's doing pretty darn well!

around 1,400 miles covered in just over a month now

If I were you I would change the aux belts for the relatively small additional cost.

It has been known for them to fail and jam up, taking other components out with them. Plus it saves you getting stranded if they do break!

Just a thought.

XMs definitely improve the more you use them.

Also, you have to remove them to do the timing belt.
