good shout on the fuelling screw, i need to have a quick check of that

still doing absolutely grand, done around 400 miles since i fixed it last weekend....very happy!

it's influenced me, next year hopefully once i get sorted i'll be buying another XM to fix up, i've enjoyed this so much and learned a lot i want to do another

Having just read my own message, I should have written the screw is turned in too far, increasing the fuel volume off boost.

Just turn it out a very small amount and reset the idle speed.
A reasonable test is to rev the engine from idle in neutral. If it smokes in quantity, the fuel volume is too great.

It looks like the Xm might be about 25mm too high at the front, can you run the engine and take another picture.
As a general guide, teh chrome rubbing strip inserts should just intersect with the top of the wheel rim, the actual measurements are given in the Haynes manual...140mm from subframe to floor, iirc.

She’d been parked around 2 hours when I took that photo

The rear had sank which raises the front end

I’ll grab a photo tomorrow of normal running height

due to lots of car thefts locally i was going to reconnect the original texton alarm

but then i decided against it due to it never working that well for me

so i've just ordered this off eBay, £40 posted

it looks alright, what i read online about it also said it was alright

todays job was to change the transmission fluid

fair to say.....it was needed!

absolutely filthy!

3L of clean dexron in it now, i'll do another change in a couple of weeks

A job well done and worth doing. Dirty ATF is the killer of auto gearboxes, as it contains friction material dust from the clutch packs.

Don't forget the differential is a seperate unit on the 4HP-18. Fill that with Ep80/90.

is the diff oil worth doing? not seen much on doing that......

i'll be doing another change next week, but the difference is noticeable!
