I intend to keep a bit of a diary/record of the work, so will post bits on here if people are interested.
No...no-one is interested in the slightest... :P
Folk are interested, but for completely different reasons. Whilst most on here are enthusiasts interested in the intimate details of what you are doing to keep it on the road the interest level of the vast majority of Joe Public stretches to "what the hell is that?", "long time since I've seen one of them" or "my dad/I used to have one of those" followed by absolute love or hate for the car, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

Whether it be S1 or 2, 2.0 or 3, petrol or diesel, saloon or estate, they are certainly a rarity that creates interest for one reason or another.

It is an automatic, not a manual and it isn’t a 24v.
Thanks for the updated info, Citroen have the car shown as with a ZPJ4 engine (24v) and manual gearbox. Other sites have it shown as an automatic, still with 24v engine...
Be aware of this when shopping for parts using the reg, or VIN number as a reference.

The spare wheel holders all disintegrate due to only being painted with primer.

As far as ATF goes my understanding is that all Dexron spec upto D6 are backwards compatible right back to the original formulation.

Even 13 years ago ZF, who make the ZF4HP-18 gearbox specified D2 or D3 on their list of approved products. That was before D4-6 existed.

D2 was the latest spec available when the car was launched.

Worth reading the below thread.

Consider having the starter reconned. Not much difference money wise and you keep the originality.
Haha consider buying one of mine. It will be cheaper and you could get two for the price of one.. 😉

At the top right of each post is a row of "buttons". Hover over them to see what each one does. The right hand one is "Quote", which means you can respond quoting the original post.

You did ask if people were intereseted in your progress, I think you now have your answer...
Don't bother restoring your car, just get it on the road and in use, you can then fettle it at your leisure...and hopefully not just park it in the garage for 22 years...

Thank you for the advice, I might have got this reply thing right, we will see. You are right about getting it back on the road, that is the main objective👍
