As I have some time off from work, I decided to grab my spannes and fix some of the problems.

The glove compartment was hard to open and once open - it wouldn’t latch properly… Took the old one out and luckily I had an extra latch, som I swapped the lock and refitted everything again - and now it opens and close like when it was new.

The lock in the drivers door wasn’t working in the aense that the key just turned the barrel. Luckily I have a complete NOS set of Valeo locks, so I had a locksmith recode a lock to the keys, and now it works flawlessly.

The windscreen washer worked like a teenager… only sometimes and with great delay… the washer for the rear window was completely dead.
I decided to have a look under the scuttle panel… which let me to clean the area. I swapped the hoses for the front washer jets as the old ones were complete and looked dirty.

I took out the tank for the washer fluid… and holy crap  It was full of some black stuff and the rubbers for the pumps were complete shot and the sensor for the fluid level wasn’t working… I had a spare tank, which was clean and some rubbers in better shape. I had ordered 2 new pumps, which I fitted… and it made the pressure in fåthe front jets much higher, but still not perfect, the rear washer jet still didnt come alive despite a new pump… I feared a broken fuse or worse:`; a dead relay, but hoped it was an easy fix such as a dodgy switch… and LUCKY me… A new switch made the pump some alive… But no flouid came through the hose… turned out to be a stuck non retur valve - I took it out and also the front one and had them soaking in winegar over the night and they both came alive again. Fitted the tank again and tried to stop the leak at the filler neck with som insulating tape, but it still leaks a bit

Got hold of a couple of NOS IR remote some time ago and tried to pair them with the car using a method someone suggested in a link on this site, but it didn’t work  Suggestions on how to get it to work are very welcome :D

I've just done the washers on our y4 2.1td as I was fed up of the black bits blocking the jets, however I replaced all the stiff plastic dirty pipes with newer rubber washer pipes, also cleaned the tank and found a load if crap in it.. I did it also because the prongs on the low level sensor had rotted away so I was getting low level warning every time I washed.. now though its so good I can wash the car behind with them...

Theoretically you can reprogram the Plip and receiver, if both are the same type.
My understanding is that the kiekert ones cannot be reprogrammed.

From what I know the later ones can be programmed by following a sequence of sit in the car, turn Ign on, within 10s fire plip at receiver and hold the button down.

Have a read through this page and see if you get anywhere.
