I'm referring to another car, but wonder if similar has happened to yours.
The burned out circuit was the piggy-back board for the oil level gauge.

I wondered if the instruments cluster had been swapped as a result of the piggy-back board having failed.

It was my SED that had both h3 Ecu and Oil level gauge circuit faulty. The oil level circuit had vaporised components, so must have suffered a significant short.
The h3 Ecu functions perfectly apart from the random flickering of the lamp. h1-h3 Ecu are normally very reliable.

The only other way an h3 Ecu could be triggering sport mode is if it is receiving Ign power and the Sport/Auto switch is making/breaking contact.

The hydractive light flickers on with it too
Either there is crosstalk in the wiring loom (unlikely), or the hydractive Ecu is faulty.

I have an h3 Ecu that works perfectly, though randomly brings on the warning lamp, from either just flickering all the way to full on.
It would be worth checking for water ingress into the connectors and Ecu case.

That car also had a very burned out oil level gauge electrical circuit.
I suspect at some stage, a reverse polarity jump start had damaged both circuits.

I note your car has had an exchange instruments cluster.

If people want to avoid the risk of reverse polarity jump starts don't connect the Gnd jump lead to the battery.
Connect the +12v to the battery and the Gnd to the engine, that way if the positive jump lead is connected to the Battery negative terminal, the negative jump lead will also only connect to the same point.
There will be a large spark and the possibility of the jump leads/battery Gnd strap melting, but it won't damage the car electronics.

Jump leads should connect both the flat and charged batteries in parallel...positive to positive, negative to negative.

Some people are confused and believe the batteries should be connected in series, much like putting batteries into a torch.
Sage advice for any car there, Will!

I think a few people have resprayed the quarter light frames so that's probably your best option.

You could always try touching them in first and see how that looks?

Update time.. I have found some help to get the rear height corrector swapped over for a non weepy one..

So I set about some interior upgrades, swapped worn switches and stalk levers..

Must say the difference does make it.. comming along slowly..
I need to fabricat a repair on the gear lever, the rubber between the top and gaiter has broken away, some ideas would be good...
Screenshot_20230912-160821_Gallery.jpg
I then also decided to set on replacing the broken areial .. but in my seniour moment thought the whole front of the roof lining would need to come down to access the fixing screw, so I started be taking the drivers sunvisour off and as I pulled to down to access the fixing screws a ruddy great big house spider fell on me.. arrrgghhh... put the door I think it went.. however, I then discovered as we should of already known that the access to the aerial is right behind the small rear view mirror visor.. so another little job done...

So all in all progress on the drivers side. I really do need to swap the drivers seat as the leather is worn on the bolster, its not through just showing white wear..
20230912_161012.jpg

One last thing.. white trip button, what can be done to black it, or change it again for another with a black button?

Is that a clutch cable I see on the floor... LOL...

You could paint the trip button with plastic primer then black paint, but if you have a correct one then fit it.
That centre console looks very busy with buttons.
