Feeble alarm removal. Late S1 cars.from 1993 had a feeble dealer alarm fitted to them ... first tell tail is a reset button and led added to the bar between the radio flap and Ash tray flap open buttons.

Rubbish it is, thankfully its fairly easy to remove and is completely plug in and go.. only cutting you may want to do is cut the ultra sonic sensors off ... but as follows remove the underdash trim passenger side. The main alarm ecu is tucked up there..

Then really simply follow the loom from the alarm ecu and its connected into the main car looms in such a way you unplug it and then connect up the cars original plugs.

These two link Harnesses are meant to be joined but I cut them in heist instead of following the loom and removing them properly, which led to fuel pump problem ..

Two at the side of the in car fuse box.. thats a white link and a blue link... then there's a third that is pushed into the A pillar foot level which is grey...

Remove the centre console side trims and then draw out the connections to the led and reset... and cut off the ultra sonics... JOB DONE...

Yes, you can see that in the diagram.
2 pins for the pump, then either two, or three for the sender, depending on whether it is for a version with, or without trip computer.
The difference appears to be that one end of the rheostat is connected to the additionally used pin, or to the same pin that the wiper is connected to.

On your diagram, it looks like the rheostat tracks connect to pins 1 and 2, then the wiper connects to pin 1 of the 2 pin unit and Pin 4 of the three pin unit.
It appears there are compatability boards that drive the fuel guage and they aren't all the same.. I was messaged by the cars previous owner and given some tips .. today finding an hour spare I looked into this..

The speedo cluster was fitted with this green pcb unit..
Screenshot_20230916-165944_Gallery.jpg
So, I changed the control board for the lighter less populated guage board....
Screenshot_20230916-165949_Gallery.jpg
Connected it all up but initially the fuel guage went backwards but I noticed the guages were the type that dont have a stop in them so they just sort of "float" .. not keen on that I had some other guages so swapped them in too connected it all up..

Bingo... a working fuel guage. However, I've litterally only put about 5 litres in as she was run dry and its showing a quarter. . So I think thats gonna need a "reserve" test with a gallon in a can to see how accurate it is..

Other achivments, I found a blower motor that had good bearings in it .. tried it and it worked and blew the correct way so that went in which allowed me to finish up under the passenger side of the dash... very pleased. However suffering quite a bit now with my ribs...

Left to do, the drivers side heater servo motor is either stuck or dead as air flow isn't altering . So that needs attention. But to finish the front now I need to do this dash repair so I can get the glove box back in.

Also need to locate 2x of the small circular covers that go in each side of the speedo cover to cover the screws..

In a burst of energy i recovered a couple of heater servo motors and decided to get the air direction motor changed today..

Only needed to remove the lower under dash trim and disconnect the bank of earths and bend the earth plate out the way to get at the motor.. got it out stuck another on which worked .. then set the control panel to face vent setting and manual adjusted the heater cog so it blew put the face vents only and reassemble. I was pleased to feel the heater box flaps etc were nice and free and not siezing up which they can do and over come the servo motor ...

They are about the same, just need a good clean.

Did you know...the reason the steering wheel buttons were added wasn't for radio control, but for cruise control.
Obviously, it was then determined that a more universal use was for radio controls.

Refitting the rear bench base in the car yesterday I found a white envolope and the book pack for the car..

My delight when I found every early mot BAR 2, but can guess the car could of been off the road for those years. Up to 2008.. obviously 2008 onwards are shown online ..

Then in the book pack was the service record and we have a stamped history to 90k also...

That's a great find - should help it to make a decent price too.

Right this is really getting to me now...

Why does the left hand lid catch keep pushing back, the lid doesnt latch . If I pull the release first to lower the lid it catches.. thats great and releases but push it down to catch and it just pushed it back...

The left catch is pushing backwards and forcing the slider rail out of it's runner.
I can't remember if there is supposed to be a support piece across the back of the slider rail section, to stop this from happening. If there isn't one, fix a vertical support so the rail can't push out of the back of the runner.
