Re: And this happened...
The thing is many people don't know enough about cars to know what to check, even owners of these, to others, complex cars ..
I just can't get my head around the list on the mot yet nothing needs attention.. much to my delight ...
The bent cill area appeared to be intact however I think I will attend to it as it lets the rest down being the remainder is all so straight . As usual there is the mud collection between wing and outer cill which currently has dried out and isn't holding moisture to encourage any rot

Re: And this happened...
Indeed, I lost an XM as I failed to have the advisories repaired, then had it in SORN and the advisories became major issues, unaffordable to me to get solved. The car was R574TJR. It seems still to be in SORN by the buyer who bought it from us in 2018.

Re: And this happened...
So very briefly today while the front was in the air I checked for the sticky caliper, which again didnt seem apparent. Started the car, pressed the brake a few times, then checked the wheel and all seemed fine, no holding on..
But for the first time, there is one thing that was advised and it could do with, front brake flexi hoses do have signs of wear.. so shall get some ordered and fitted..

Re: And this happened...
Nothing has been done the last 3 weeks or so due to ongoing treatment.. I do three week cycles meaning three weeks of treatment and one week off. This lastvweek was my week off and as I rolled towards today I get some energy up and today my lad was away for the day at beavers activity day, so I managed to pull myself outside the hot weather hasn't helped me either lately ... anyway today I wanted to transfer all the bits I'd stuffed into the v6 to the 2.1td to take to storage so asses the work needed in the v6..
Sadly as for as the leather is concerned the passenger seat is a write off it has two tears on it, and also the rear (i think upright) seat is also a write off and has torn leather ... will do i still owe you a pair of rear leather headrests?? I have them now.. lol..
Inside from what I can see that needs attention, rear nearside door card pocket lid is missing and needs re fitting , the glove box catch is all working and present but isn't fitted properly so the lid doesn't stop down, the gas strut works, wooden gear lever needs fitting .. I have one, the fuse box under the dash is all hanging down and needs putting back, that is gonna be fun, as once they are all disturbed they rarely go back tidy. And blower motor is very squeaky and creeky so needs attention.. and the speedo clocks area needs a cover, or if the oil temp guage doesn't register I'll put the standard rev counter without temp guage back in.
While I was there I reminded myself, everything electric worked 4x windows, both mirrors, front seats, armrest .. didn't try the sunroof I just assume they don't work .

Re: And this happened...
Found a small amount of energy today to do a tiny bit after a month of really not being to well at all and I wanted to try and do a small job or two on the car.. so I firstly decided I'd remove the rev counter with oil temp guage as they were unique to the 24v v6 cars and I dont know if its wired in at the engine end, I also wanted to do a quick bulb check..
Its also the first time I'd actually sat in the car with power connected for a length of time with engine off and I noticed the suspension electro valves cycling rapidly every 20 seconds or so .. now it happens with doors open or closed, but doesn't do it while the engine is running..
Also, what is this sensor for on the back of the front bank below the dizzy.. I notice its two wire plug but only one wire is connected and stragely the green from the loom has been connected to the brown wire on the plug...

Re: And this happened...
The blue temp sensor is a single wire sensor for the instruments cluster. Maybe a twin wire plug has been fitted.
The elctrovalve issue sounds like the Ign off power supply is being interrupted, or a door contact switch is making and breaking...possibly the boot lamp contact.
Is that car Hydractive 1, or Hydractive 2?
H1 diagrams are in the Series 1 circuit diagrms.
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10268
Hydractive 2 is in Gabors circuit diagrams.
download/file.php?id=9711
Just checked. That car is Rp 5876, the change to Hydractive 2 is 5929, so it will be Hydractive 1, h3, Ecu.
The diagrams we have are for h2 Ecu, but apart from the Gnd for the electrovalve passing through the Ecu on h3, the rest is identical.

Re: And this happened...
I've just watched your video. Are you sure that's the electrovalve, it sounds more like central locking.

Re: And this happened...
Either there is crosstalk in the wiring loom (unlikely), or the hydractive Ecu is faulty.
I have an h3 Ecu that works perfectly, though randomly brings on the warning lamp, from either just flickering all the way to full on.
It would be worth checking for water ingress into the connectors and Ecu case.
That car also had a very burned out oil level gauge electrical circuit.
I suspect at some stage, a reverse polarity jump start had damaged both circuits.
I note your car has had an exchange instruments cluster.
If people want to avoid the risk of reverse polarity jump starts don't connect the Gnd jump lead to the battery.
Connect the +12v to the battery and the Gnd to the engine, that way if the positive jump lead is connected to the Battery negative terminal, the negative jump lead will also only connect to the same point.
There will be a large spark and the possibility of the jump leads/battery Gnd strap melting, but it won't damage the car electronics.
Jump leads should connect both the flat and charged batteries in parallel...positive to positive, negative to negative.
Some people are confused and believe the batteries should be connected in series, much like putting batteries into a torch.

Re: And this happened...
Do you know this car Will? Just wondered how you know this. I heard from the last owner who had installed the oil temp sensor and rev counter with oil temp guage but I changed it back as the 12v v6 weren't fitted with them..
