Just thinking about this.. If I decide to let my S1 12v Auto SEi go then, I guess I better make a DAMM good job of sorting her out into tip top condition :D Ive got a low milage (cannot confirm the miles though) PRV to go in, it would then have to be the body work and the rattle on the rear subframe!

Anyone got an Unwanted rear subframe preferably fitted with Bendix ABS??? 8-) ;)

I had 3 and a Xant VSX one but the scumbags who broke into my storage
stole them to weigh in as scrap weight! :x

Is there too much wrong with yours to get MIG'd?

I'm going to have to break the black 2.0SEi with the crock autobox I've mentioned to you before though
it wasn't the immediate next job on the list and is planned for 'sometime' so there could be one - it's a 90
car.

Andrew,

Ive got a spare autobox for her! Its here attached to the other spare turbo engine, and I know it works too..

Shame to loose a Black XM, my favorite.. colour.. ;)

Its something to do with the anti roll bar attaching the bolts to the rear arms.. they loosened off, lost the spacers, and rattle like mad like a front drop link!

So annoying!

Been there done that.

At the very worst it's either the threads gone in the x2 arms not the subframe.
It could even be a case of undoing the bolts if they're there and feeding in the
replacement washers - the idea of changing the rear subframe is a bit OTT. Bit
like changing the engine because the spark plugs a loose... :?

Subframe is much simpler to change!

Back box off, wheels off, 4 bolts off lower frome undo 4 hydraulic feed pipes, throw it away

I find this a lot easyer, then 2x R clips that wont budge, or a sphere that wont move, though these should be cracked on high, and Ive also heard that the rear ARB nuts inside the rear arms can shear off... inside the rear arms.. then you are. in poo street..

Yes, Im aware it could well be easyer to remove the arms, but not always for me.. :)

Changing a rear subframe is quicker than redoing x4 bolts? Dear God Paul, please tell me you're kidding right? :o
And chucking a whole subframe away because of loose anti roll bar shims. The only real unknown here are
the actual bolts and the threads in the arms.

The Xm rear arms aren't that difficult - honestly. You'll truly hate working on a CX estate if you're
worried about all these stories about sheared bolts and rusted solid spheres etc. The clearances on the
estate sphere are microscopic!! There is no nut in the arm, the thread for the rear bar bolts is chunky
enough in the alloy arm - the trick is getting the alignment of the bar right with the arm so the bolts
won't cross thread upon rebolting it all together. I do not kid you, to renew the shims would take a hour.
I was as daunted about the XUD bottom bolt you advised me on as you sound with this job and when I
tackled it with the right attitude (an tools) it was a doddle and the car was dragged back into life.

  not really.. I joking about "Chucking it away" - Of course I wouldn't chuck it away..

When this Black onyx Turbo is done and sold, and the 24v is on the road, Ill possibly drag her out of resting and have a good proper look at the rear end.. I could very well just get away with putting shims back in..

Ive got the Turbo engine out, and the auto box swapped onto the replacement engine.. just need to put it all back in again now..

Hi Paul,

That should be an easy one to sort out. I wouldn't entertain taking the subframe off. I would go for removing the arm first. Can't be any worse than on the CX. Taking the arms out of a BX is a real doddle though.

Stick in some new spacers and your rattle will be gone.

Sporadic outbreaks of being on topic are always welcome and there aren't exactly rules George!

This thread exists to tally known surviving Xm v6's and discuss them.
Lhd won't upset things really. I'll combine the listed cars into an
updated post when they're added.
