Will, my S1 2.0 Si Auto is still active, although sorned until later in August after new sills and a general tidy up.
Reg' is H771 CPP
I'm looking forward to driving it again.

PS Keys! Where can I go to get keys cut for the old girl, please? I've got the blanks. The ignition and door keys are different and I didn't inherit remote central locking when I acquired the car around twenty four years ago, ish. That's something to consider because I robbed the barrel out of the passenger door as the driver's door barrel wore out. I needed it sorting there and then, otherwise I'd have rebuilt the barrel. It will happen again, I'm sure, hence considering a remote.

Cheers,
Tim

Good to see your car is to go back on the road.
For keys, either obtain a complete lock set and change all the locks to one key (difficult to source and expensive), or strip the existing door locks and re-pin them the same as the ignition.
I would think any decent locksmith could cut the keys. They just need to be gripped in a holder and cut with a key saw. Some locksmiths have a pair of handheld cutters for car keys.
The SX9 key isn't a special key, it just had four keyways to cut.

For the remote, obtaining an Xm specific one is probably going to be difficult, but Peugeot/Citroen cars used the IR module, so one from, e.g. an AX, or Saxo would work. The difficult part would be integrating that into your flip key.

If you don't mind having a separate fob for the remote locking, just fit "keyless entry system", which are cheap and easy to install. I did that on my Sable car, as the remote was U/s.

Re: Keys.
I think I'll take my keys to Morgans then as they've cut car keys for me in the past and chipped them when needed. I just wondered if there was a particular locksmith that was favoured. Since owning the car, I've always only had the two keys without a plip. I do have a couple of them left over from my estates that are no longer around (Long story there! 😢) but the plip neons still light up when operated, so I could fit new key blades. However, I think in the short term, I'll opt for the keyless entry jobby to keep matters simple.
Thanks very much for your help and advice. I do need it.
See you soon, maybe on the road somewhere.
👍

If you have a complete lock set from a S2, Xm, you could install that and the RF receiver and have single key with remote.
Most of the aftermarket Rf kits accept new keys being added, so if you no longer have the Rf receiver from an S2, you should be able to use the Rf key with one of those units.

S1 Xm use Ir plip and receiver, S2 use Rf, but the function is the same.

Cheers Will, I'll get moving on that. The car should be on the road by September and I'll be badgering you then.
Thanks.

Would you post some pictures Tim? Vert amandier is one of my favourite XM colours, especially on an early XM! Good luck with the keys
