Hello everyone,
Recently I have become an XM owner after searching for my dreamed Y3 break with V6 and finally I managed to find one, unfortunetly it spend last 10 years or so grown into bushes so it requires some work. It's going to be quite a big project and as this is my first XM I decided to create this thread to share my journey threw renovation and ask for help to get it running and looking great again. This isn't my first hydropneumatic citroen as I own a 1987 BX 19 TRI also with break body (I love all the citroen break models).
With first post comes my first problem: the indicators are somehow always on but only on the side and back the front ones don't work at all. I thought about faulty switch or relay, so my question is how to get to indicators relay?
So this is all for my first post, I'll post another on soon.
Here are photos of my cars

Your Xm appears to be in pretty good condition, well worth saving.

The front flashers not working is probably just corroded bulb holder connections, the flasher relay is mounted on the relay board, which is the back side of the fuse-board.
On a Lhd Xm, remove the left side dash panel and the fuse-board can be unclipped and hinged down to reveal the relays.

The flasher relay is #170. See relay board diagram in the Series 1 electrical diagrams thread. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10268

It's possible the indicator stalk switch, or hazard switch might be shorting out due to damp, so check those. Is it possible this car has an alarm fitted, if so check that.

First thing to fix on an Xm is the parking brake, otherwise, on a non-running car, you have no brakes.

You hadn't said your Xm has no sunroof... 8-) Just noticed it has Romana velour seats, as well.
Those alloy wheels were designed for the Xm estate and suit it very well.

I'll go check the relays today and it appears that someone mounted some kind of aftermarket alarm because there is a falshing LED on the vent control. You have a pretty sharp eye there are in fact velour seats with electric control and there is no sunroof but I noticed that citroen estates don't get sunroofs in Bx and Cx I think it's mainly because of that height extension in the middle of the car but I don't know if it applies to Xm or not. And about the Xm condition there is rust but, as I deducted myself, it is there because of the poor quality body repair as the car probably hit some kind of barier on the right side but genius 00' Polish mechanics just put car putty on dents and it corroded but only the outside panels are in bad shape the structural parts still are still ogrinally galvanized.
Anyway I have some good news I managed to start the engine with help of a brake cleaner can because the fuel pump doesn't get any electricity. I think the leftover bits of an LPG installation can cause issues I'll investigate this more today.

The relays on the front of the ECU box are well known for causing electrical issues with the ECU and fuel pump power. The circuit diagrams are in the previously linked thread.
Also find the engine information in the Engine Management thread: yours is Fenix-3. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10588

If the engine fires using an external fuel source then the crank sensor, Ecu and ignition amplifier are receiving power and are functioning properly.
The Gnd for the fuel pump is under the steering wheel, via(iirc) three connectors.

A Blink Code reader will be useful for reading any codes on your car. You can even perform tests using it.
Blink Code reader thread. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7368

An aftermarket alarm could be interrupting the fuel pump signal and the LPG kit will switch the fuel pump over from petrol to gas.

Hopefully we should now see a video of your car driving this afternoon... ;) :)

p.s. UK Xm and Bx estates had sunroofs fitted either as standard, or optional.
