Good work Phil,

The clutch cable of my SD squeaks as well, but it hasn't started to annoy me yet.

Brand new Philips RC026 CD autochanger in unopened box, now out of box and in car boot. All working fine with the existing radio cassette and steering wheel controls. Cost a bit more than the £7.50 secondhand unit (which I still have here) I bought originally (sans cables etc.) but well worth the £80 all-in, bought, delivered and fitted at my trusty local ICEman. Just in time for the French trip. 8-) :D

Just back from France. 1,860 miles later and the car performed faultlessly. Did 780 miles yesterday alone. Comfortable if a little soft and bouncy at the front since the regassing of the spheres and replacement of the centre sphere. I will be fitting the e-crofting diode fix kit now, and if I still feel there needs to be less bobbing up and down of the front over undulating surfaces after that next stage fix, I'll be asking for advice on here. Ride was hugely improved since the regassing, so I can only imagine we'll get there.

Noticed a fair few XMs on my travels including a nice S1.5 V6.

Pics from the trip:

First a silver TD in Carcassonne: nice:

And some gratuitous pics of my XM:

And we climbed Monsegur in 30 degree heat... leaving the XM baking below...

Miles per gallon? 30 dead for the whole trip.

One thing:
If I'd paid ten times as much for what the car owes me, I would be well pleased: what a car for this sort of thing... 8-)*

*except maybe for the fact she burnt 400 ml of synthetic - although that included blasting along at speeds between 120 and 170 kph for hours in high temps with the air con going much of the time lol!!!

Absolutely. We toured France in my first Xm, did 2,800 miles in 12 days, and even slept in it waiting for the ferry home. It was great.
With my first diesel we once nipped out for Sunday lunch and ended up doing a 400 mile round trip. Lunch was excellent though..

The external diodes work when the internal diodes fail. Failing diodes prevent the electrovalves from functioning properly and the symptoms are firming up of the suspension. I think the kit will not cure your soft/bobbing front. But then again, I may have misunderstood what you meant by 'bobbing'. :?

Good Stuff Phil,

It looks excellent down there, I haven't actually done much of the South of France before. I'll have to change that now.

Hi Phil.

Car looks superb, and it's a lovely colour ! it's a credit to you ;)

Beautiful picture with the back drop of the mountains when you parked up in 30 degrees heat, and love those wheels on yours,

Now iv'e seen it all clean like that, i'm going to go and attack mine, it's been two weeks without a clean 'n' polish, :o :o , ( bloody kids ) ! inside leaves a bit to be desired, after day on beach, bloody sand everywhere

Nice one Phil, 'n' glad the trip went well, and the Xm performed faultlessly

Just back from the CCC NAtional Rally at Gaydon, where there was a significant turn-out of XMs. It was great to meet some members from here and study other XMs! I must say thanks to a certain Jim who happily fitted the Diode kit and plugged a Lexia into my XM; identifying a few minor issues (all corrected now). The ride back was noticably improved.

Interestingly, now that's all be done/reset when I first turn the key the orange 'sports' suspension light comes on and, like the ABS light goes out like it's running a test. I'd heard that was supposed to happen from some, but Jim had never seen it.

Now, too, I can tell the difference between Normal and Sport mode - and in either mode it corners better.

All in all a brilliant weekend. Pics to follow in the events section.
