Haha, I see it's up to old tricks then. The dipped beam is usually one of the relays under the slam panel. I can't remember which one though. Have a search on here and you'll find what it is. Might be corroded connections by the sounds of it's intermittent tricks.
If you want to go the whole hog and improve your lights, give them a good but careful clean inside, pop in brighter bulbs and if you have the time and want to, treat the fresnel lenses with some oxi clean stain remover .... Leave soaking for 6 hrs in strong sunshine. See my blog for details... Although there are now 102 pages to sift through!

I have had brief hydraulic warnings, but it's usually my spirited cornering sloshing the LHM around in the tank...thinks it's lost a load! It clearly needs a good top up.

XM's... they love through up a curious issue from time to time.

Thanks Russ, strangely enough the dipped beams have been working since but I think I'll pop in some brighter bulbs alright. I've noticed the reflectors of the dipped beam part of the headlight have become yellow, but not the main beam part.

Haven't had the hydraulic level warning either since; as you said, probably just needed a top up

Try carefully washing the headlamp reflectors, it usually has a marked impact.

As I discovered recently, the dipped beam bulbs don't operate through a relay - they're straight off the lighting switch. Main beam does have a relay however, even though it's the same wattage (55+55 standard), presumably to prevent the additional current of main beam loading the lighting switch/wiring. Adding a dip beam relay is something several folk have done, and ought to prolong the life of the main lighting switch.

Davoxx, the paintwork is grand mostly, one or two small rust patches but you'd have to look for them.

Captainhaddok, I wonder how many roadworthy ones are knocking around this country?! ;)
