Thats worth looking at as well. The steering is poor in both directions, not just one. Martin at Pleasdes was telling me if the seals in the pinion valve go internally, that typially the steering would be heavey in one direction and not in other, unless both seals fail.

That's the way my S1 behaved when the pinion valve went.

Does it weep from the rack any?

What a lovely looking Xm, im really starting to like S1 Xms at the moment, and that looks like a very good example. Very nice colour and i love those early wheel trims too.

I was trying to work out which of your current fleet is the white one on the previous page? Is that the 2.1 auto?

41MPG from a 2.1TD automatic is pretty great, no doubt you will get more from your new manual 2.1. Ive not checked what economy our 2.1 does, it seems very good on fuel though. My C5 does 43-45MPG, id probably get more from the 2.1 manual.

I think my car had a new valve for one MOT at 70k miles. It gained a fail due to leakage then a pass later the same day. The MOT was carried out at the Citroen dealer.

Hi Chris,

The white car is my Pal's 2.0 TCT Manual. Its a nice car as well 80k on the clock, and will soon be LPG converted.

The poor steering on this car seems to be an issue it has had for a number of years. But its starting to get better with more use. I need to check how clean the LHM is, and think of swopping another pump over too.

Chaps,

I have swoped the HP pump with the one on the Onyx, and the steering was working perfectly on the test drive I took the car on. I hope it continues to work.

Robert, what tyres on your new 2.1? From the photo I'd say the are 205 and not 195?
cheers

Yep, they're 205 65s. They're the wheels and summer tyres from the 2.1 Auto. The tyres that were on the SD originally are crap, and the front wheels were badly in need of being balanced.

It should have 195s.
