The poor running only appears when the manual ecu is fitted, and when the auto ecu is reconnected for 20 or 30 miles afterwards, i have ordered a full set of new waterproof relays and relay holders to replace all of the engine ecu box relays in case the issue is disturbing them while changing the ECU, hot start and cold start is perfect but if the engine temp gauge is just off the minimum reading it needs to be cranked for a couple of seconds before it will start.

Fuel pressure is perfect, spark plugs, distributor, rotor arm and coil are brand new and spark is big and blue. Fuel injectors could still be an issue but given the issue arises only when the manual ECU is fitted i suspect something electrical in that area.

I always liked them, they need to be refurbed, Painted, fitted with new rubber and they also require the hub opening up and certainly in the case of the rears they need spacers as the offset isn't right, about 10mm at the rear should do it, might do 20mm on the front.

I think they look pretty nice with the lines of the car, not sure which shade to do them though............

Why change from your existing ones? I always thought they looked particularly good.

ImageVolvo wheels on the XM by Deanxm, on FlickrThey do Will but i have had a bit of an issue with them i have noticed, when i went to Ireland a few years ago i hit a rather substantial pothole (4" deep) and although the tyre survived the rim was dented, i have straightened rims before but where they have the stainless lip i cannot straighten the outer edge, only the inner, the powder coat is now beginning to lift on a couple of the rims at the end of a spoke, i picked these up for £80 this afternoon from a customer as i thought i could try them on, see what i think and go from there.

I love the dished wheels, i have a real thing for the lip they have but i am becoming less a fan of the very open spoke design and fancy something a bit more closed, trouble is i have brand new tyres on the RS rims 215/45/17 and i think these Volvo ones look nice wearing their current 205/55/17's, these are a fair bit larger in overall diameter though whereas my RS rims were sized to give the exact same OD. In reality i would be swapping the tyres over as i forked out for a good set of tyres, they are very good and still have 9mm of tread on all round.

I can't decide in the dark and both front and rear will need 10mm spacers which is no issue.

The R wheels are a variation of the Titan design From the S/C/V 70 series cars whereas the wheels i just got were taken from a V50 and are Sculptor's.
There is a V6 Xm about with the Volvo Canopus wheels fitted and that looks sweeeeeeeet.

I am mid rear arm bearing replacement at the moment so im not going to get too carried away with these wheels just yet, i will have a look at them fitted over the weekend and if i like it i will cut the tyres off and get them stripped back bare to repair the curb rash, then decide on a shade of silver to paint them.

Dean,i'm a "volvo guy"....850 T5R,R,S,V70R,C70 wheels have exactly the same offset like our xm.
S80,s,v50,s60...have slightly higher offset from 49-52 and in combination with wider tires you would need spacers because they are slightly positioned inwards.
Old s,v90 have offset around 35.
Those wheels are exact replica of Volvo's "R" wheels because originals have an "R" on one of the spokes.

Doesn't matter if they are replica or original...they look exactly the same except that "R" on them.
Although the xm looks terrific with almost all volvo's original alloys.....your old alloys suits xm better for my taste.
Are your old ones 18"?

Yes, i guestimate they need about A 10mm offset correction but i will need to find a half reasonable set of hub centric spacers that are not silly money or i will sell these rims on and keep and eye out for something else.

The old ones are 17 J7's but with a tiny bit more offset than stock alloys
