Dean,
Do you think that your old pump pulley cheeks were so worn that the belt was actually running on the groove bottom (rather than the cheeks), when the amount of available drive friction would be greatly limited?
If the case, wonder whether it would explain the belt "tension" problem being often reported.

I have looked Chris and i don't think it was sitting right down in the V but the belt would exhibit a massive amount of wear and slippage in a short space of time after initial fitment, it would then end up (after successive re-tensioning) a long way down in the pulley before it would eventually grip and give no further wear, the trick was to keep an eye on it, in the space of 10 miles the belt could go from holding firm to slipping so badly the pump pulley was not turning and this would chew the belt up and snap it within minutes.

Like i say, fingers crossed i have tracked the issue down but time will tell.

Well these https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Universal- ... 2749.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; arrived today and so far i am very impressed, good comunication, the parts injectors are brand new as stated and are genuine Siemens Deka parts, postage at £30 was expensive but understandable given the packaging, time in filling out the forms etc and given the injectors were $3.99 each is imaterial if im honest.

I shall be going home early tonight to fit these so i can see if all my problems are over 8-) i will compare spray patter between new and old too just to see if there is a difference you can see, i expect there will be as my others were not healthy and the spray pattern was poor.

4$ each....professional cleaning overe here is 5€/injector.
If i understand correctly....you need to add everything....o-rings,spacers and micro filters.Right?
Advertise says that they are not included.

The best quote i had for injector cleaning was £72 for all 6 from a reputable company who provide the kind of pointless before and after flow test report, postage each way was £4.50 which is £81.
These new ones did not come with the filters, no spacers are required for this injector and i re-used the seals.
The plan was to end up with a spare set of injectors for the other engine but looking at it on balance it is probably better to buy another set of six and know they are new rather than have the 25-year-old set cleaned because the price works out very similar in the end.

They are now fitted anyway and the car idles smoother, the exhaust note is very constant and smooth, there is no petrol smell from the exhaust when started from cold and the hot start problem is gone, its interesting that the new injectors have a pencil straight spray pattern which is probably why the one injector i had that did that could not be corrected, it was obviously working correctly, it was the others that were at fault.

Now to concentrate on getting the rear arms sorted out and back on the car.

I have not spoken with them Will, all they have advertised on ebay is the one type linked above, what injectors does the 24v use?
Chris googled the address and it looked like an Audi specialist, the listing said they had 3000 units for sale so could just be a job lot of outdated injectors they are trying to get rid of.

Had ours (albeit diesel) done too by a Delphi-Bosch diesel specialist. Set of 4 stripped, cleaned, re-calibrated, new seals...€70 for the four.
Often recommended at 60k intervals.
