Had my rear arm bearings turn up today and pressed out the old races and fitted the kit.
What i will say from the off is that if you buy the Firstline FSK6101 kit all you can use are the outer races, the bearings themselves, the oil seals and maybe the stepped end shims, the nut/bolt and centre spindle shaft will be too large in all dimensions so you need to make damn sure you do not bugger up the spindle shaft when you are hammering the livin..............carefully pressing it out. One of the end shims which run on the oil seal and keep the bearing from shifting on the spindle in use would not press onto the spindle, it was either out of round or not machined to the correct size so i had to use one of the old ones but it is not a wear item.
I was concerned about getting the outer races in the right place but the machines hole through the arm has a shoulder the outer races sit against, the rest is easy to centre once it's all together.

Just in time for all the rain and wind now to get out under the car and fit the first arm back into place.

How did you deduce your car needed new rear arm bearings? They normally don't wear on XM.

What posessed you to use Firstline stuff? It's generally very poor quality. I foolishly fitted a firstline steering rack gaitor. Less than 3 years later it was falling apart.

It was the cracking noise when changing height, the bearings were ok but the grease had turned to stone a good while ago by the looks of it Will.

I shall be going home early tonight to fit these so i can see if all my problems are over 8-) i will compare spray patter between new and old too just to see if there is a difference you can see, i expect there will be as my others were not healthy and the spray pattern was poor.

Dean. According to a number of supplier sites, the PRV6-12 and PRV6-24 injectors are the same (though the Citroen parts guide shows them as different)...and the same as the 2.0i, as well as many Citroens and Pugs, Vauxhall Omega and Vectra-B 2.5L and Volvo 244-960.

Why couldn't you use your 2.0i injectors in the v6?

I have a duff injector, which is probably why the engine drinks fuel like an alchoholic having a bad day and was tripping the Lambda sensor readings. The injector now appears to have failed closed and the Lambda is no longer a problem...which is sort of a result.

Evening Will

The injectors for the V6 were Siemens Deka 2892, running siemens Fenix engine management, all the 2.0i cars i had were Bosch Motronic MP with Bosch injectors

I was told that by a few here and searching online the injectors spec was the same, individual cylinder capacity between the 2.0i and V6's are identical, power output (by cylinder) is slightly higher in the 2.0i than the 12v and pretty much the same as the 24v so flow rates should be at least the same as the V6's but i think from memory the 2.0i injectors were Bosch and the body was shorter than the siemens ones the V6 used, and even if they were the same i only had 4 spares from a donor 4cyl and they had been in a box for over 10 years and came from an engine with (for unknown reasons) an unwilling cylinder.

If you want i will send you up a spare injector i have, there is one i had spare that fired a good tight jet of fuel still.

seems like you are getting some problems ironed out and having fun lately.

Your spare would be useful, if it's a Bosch 280150762.

I will have a look at the ones I have with a view to refurbing, but suspect this one is finished. I had noticed a stumbling/misfire on quick revving, which is now permanent and error code 71. Fuel dissapears at an alarming rate, but when you consider these injectors flow 200cc/min per injector, so a litre every 5 mins if one is hosing.

I can't find any specs for the Siemens 2892. Do you have any, or an equivelance listing?

For ref.

I may have a Bosch one as one engine had two or three fitted, the rest are Siemens.

Deka 2892 are 285cc @ 3bar, narrow cone spray pattern, Coil Resistance 14.7ohm

Have you thought about fitting a turbo to use up some of the available fuel delivery?

I'll check what my car is fitted with.

..........................................supercharger in the V with sandwich air to water intercooler driven via the crank on a custom pulley to keep A/C but delete the water pump and replace with an electronic one, forged pistons and rods from John Lane with a manual shift kit on the stock transmission with transfer gearing from the 2.0i box fitted in reverse giving longer final drive ratio. Should, in theory, give a conservative +50-100bhp depending on pulley ratio/boost.
Turbocharged i have heard they make a perfectly street-able 400HP+ reliably with just uprated piston/rods/exhaust/intake and fueling which would be..................interesting...........with FWD

Not given it a moments thought no.
