My Citroen XM 3.0 PR-Vestige

Post by Dean » Mon May 11, 2009 9:23 pm

Im sure you have all seen it before on CXM but thought i would post some new piccies.

I bought the car on the 27th sept 2003 from a dealer in Ringwood, i couldnt really afford to insure it at the time (£1200   ) even though its only a 2.0N/A but i wanted an XM so badly and with 45k on the clock, FCSH and 1 owner from new i couldnt resist :D
Ive made a few mods along the way now the insurance company almost pays me to have it since im a bit older :D but all in all its been a very reliable car covering 45k again in the time ive had it and seems set to cover many more miles.

It does look very nice Dean.

I take it the triple-lamp conversion is better in use than the standard headlights?

The underside shot is interesting. It's good to see that the rear subframe on a Series 1 can be so sound. When I discovered the terrible state of the one on my '89 car I feared it might be the fate that was awaiting all XMs. Looks like my rusty one might just be an exception (probably due to the 'rubberised' paint thats it' has been smothered in).

I think the word you were looking for was sad Peter

I have not seen a MK 1 with bad rust yet, but lots of MK2's with it, im wondering if yours was used for boat launching at some time, any evidence of a tow bar being fitted at any point?
The triple lamp setup is brilliant, i can see where im going at night now but if all you want is better lights i think for the money your always better off with HID's in your existing units, only if you really like the triple lamp look like i do would it be worth it.

Thanks for the comments gents, im really pleased with how its come together :D

Immaculate as ever Dean! I know of no tidier XM.

I used to dislike the triple headlight conversion kits, but seeing them on yours has actually made me quite like them..... hmmmm 8-)

Is that your wife in the car in the first pic where its parked behind the wee Triumph? She looks happy anyway, take it she likes ol Captain Scarlet too and appreciates the time and effort you spend on it?

Im YET to witness a bad Subframe at the rear... Ive seen many front subframe RUSTING but not rotten as yet...

Mind, ive only really ben involved with S1 cars.. Werent S2 cars fitted with that awfull engine under tray which helped very quickly to rus the front subframes??

Ive no reason for rear frame rots, as they are exposed, but Tims must have had its rear dipped in water of some sort in the past...
