The train of thought above seems to be gravitating towards the FDV and I can see that, of the two components I would rather remove the FDV as access looks better.

filters I hope will be ok, I replaced them when I re-built the FDV recently.................10 years ago!, maybe not then.

Tonight's job is getting that FDV out and attacking it with the large adjusting stick by the looks of it, I think someone may have got some shmoo in the system.

If I find something in the FDV that should not be there I will be happy, if it looks fine I will have no choice but to re-build another and swap over which will take time to order the re-build kit in.

You don't need a rebuild kit, per se. You can/could readilly get the filters from any PSA dealer and the O rings are available locally.

Filter p/n 95 534 068.

Already called Citroen this morning, manifold filters are NFP although they are scouring the stock room and looking down the back of every dealership sofa in the country as we speak, O rings I have a massive box of and they have proved to be happy in an LHM bath.

Nope none in the UK, my local Citroen dealer has found one in Belgium, 4 in Germany, 1 in Greece and a couple in Poland and has passed on the contact details for me but he did warn stock counts on such parts can be a little inaccurate and there is only one dealer showing a full compliment of 2 in stock which is the Polish dealer. Pickings are thin!.

I know that Pleiades struggled to find the FDV filters when they overhauled mine Dean and they must know the likely sources! It may be worth giving Martin a ring and good luck with your further hunt! Regards, Matthew T.

I am trying to keep the faith that mine will come out in mint condition, I fitted them so in my mind they are new.

If all else fails and FDV isn't serviceable, not sure whether a swap to a 6+2 pump feasible, retaining your existing regulator.
This does away with the FDV.
Steering is supplied by the 6, with a pressure relief valve inside the pump.
Brakes/suspension by the 2, using existing pressure regulator.
Mounting? Pulley? Rotation direction?
