Ha captin not quite a find. We knew and know its there. I bought it about five years ago and then sold it to my lanlord after he had the sed he had from me so he had a stock of spares and its sat since.

So this is all depending what the underside is like as cant remember so we need to fetch it oit to assess...

Best of luck getting it sorted - it would be great if you could get your own car up and running.

Anyway I really look forward to seeing this farm - do you plant XM bits in the spring and get a harvest in the autumn?

Underbody condition is now becoming the paramount issue on these cars.

Paul, as you have decided, I would scrap the car in question. You can waste a lifetime welding rusty cars up.

I just want to bring this Blog for the H reg Sed to a closer end. The car showing more cill and under body rust more then ever has been a subject of strip down.. the dash is all out completely as i did start swapping stuff into the L reg 2.1 auto mentioned here. So asca continuation. The car will be stripped to a bare shell and everything removalble removed including glass. Full manual drive train.. a second set after a J reg 2.1 manual went two years ago.

A slightly sad end to one of the oldest diesel sed manuals.. but she was very bad.

Yes.. ive done it again...

Image

Image

Bulkhead sound insulation out too..

However. . Taking this all out revealed hidden issues..

Here are some areas that have never been found till to late..

Inside the boot..
Left side..
Image

Right side..
Image

Both above just by rear lamps inside the boot.

Image
Inside front. Passenger wheel arch..

Image
Drivers side.. the grommet there is the one the throttle cable goes through..

Pics not taken.. rust/rot all along inside where the floor meets the inside section of the sill box section..

So far everything kept as useual..

Still to take off.. rear lamps.. bootlid.. sunroof even though it dont work might be a good one to strip and check out. Windscreen out.. rear quarter glass also need cutting out..

Now.. due to help of rot.. both rear wing sections under the quarter glass have already seperated from the under chassis box.. so im now pondering once the glass is out of cutting the rear wings out.. spot welded no doubt.. but we shall see.

That's what I call a strip down Paul - most impressive!! It is especially interesting to see the mirrored fitting holes etc. in the bulkhead for r and lhd. Regards, Matthew T.

Yes actually mathew they are mirrord more then you think though the upward hole for the brake pedal rod is not mirrord on the passenger side. And its not a direct exact mirror either.

Paul - could you post a photo of the pedal box assembly please? Is it the same item for manual and auto transmission vehicles? Steve

Todays efforts after moving the engine and box to one side.. i now had the immense task of getting the remains onto my trailer.

I had no hoist.. it broke last time and ive not fixed it yet..

I attempted to get the screen out but impatience with the piercer let to laminate lift and crack and left a line in it.. so was abandond.. was very annoyed about that..

So... after some effort.. in beaming hot sun too

Image

How?? Well the only way i could..

Image

Yes.. trolly jacks and a ratchet strap.. by useing the jacks to take the weight.. unhooked the trailer from the car so rather then pulling the shell onto the trailer i pulled the trailer under the car bit by bit.. till it slid on..

Doors to come off and boot lid then get some shite in to get rid of.
