After arriving home there's still 1/3 a tank left in the car :)

With economy like that who needs a Diesel! **runs and hides**
I think some of my figures had the same digits, but in a different order.  I'm pretty sure my MPG was still better though, apart from when Chris stole my car. ;)

I started out with 1/3 of a tank and the light came on near home.

I don't know about the XM as it's never had more than £20 in it but my Xantia has the standard 65ltr tank and I regularly get 65-70ltr in it, and that's from when the orange light has just come on - but there again I always get at least 750 miles out of a tank.

The XM has a 80ltr tank and I am not aware of any larger tank options, since after all that is pretty big even for a more thirsty S1V6!! Regards, Matthew T.

The extra is just filling the filler neck up.

I've never filled either of the present cars. At present I'm doing 50 litre lots as it's 5p a litre off at shell stations, so having done three fills since Friday lunchtime, it helps.

Great to see you and the XM enjoyed the run out David :D I'm really sorry I missed it :(

Your economy is well on a par with mine when I do a long trip. They're surprisingly frugal for what they are...

After a super speedy dispatch from Russ my XM's new stickers have arrived this morning in the post...

Quality is great and they've got a nice "feel" to them being slightly textured.

Will take my old ones off and use an alcohol cleaner on the surface before applying these ones though to give them the best chance of fitting I reckon.

About three weeks ago I decided to have my Xantia Activa detailed by a local guy who has a fantastic reputation. I booked the XM in at the same time on the proviso the results on the Activa were satisfactory.

Here's what the Activa looked like after I'd washed it a few weeks ago...

Image

To look at it was a really tidy car but the paint was a little rough and it had swirl marks on it.

Here's a during picture showing the bottom half polished and the top half as it was whilst the guy was at work:

Anyway, here's a few pictures of what the Activa looked like when I got it back...

Here's a reflection shot from the Activa's back drivers door:

The next morning it was raining and it was all sitting in nice little droplets on the car:

After the amazing results on the Activa I decided the XM was going to have a go too.

I dropped it off at 8am this morning and got a lift in to collect it at 5.30pm this evening.

This is how it was sitting when I walked into his yard this evening:

I've no interior shots yet but he's cleaned everything, conditioned the leather, the lot. It looks and smells amazing inside it :)

It's now back in the workshop with it's cover over it to keep the dust from setting on it.

Am well pleased with the results on the two cars.

They've got something called a nano wrap on them now which apparently stops contaminants bonding to the paint. There was a bird that crapped on my Activa and after sitting for 24 hours it washed off with the pressure from the hose with my thumb over it. No scrubbing or touching the car was necessary :)

Very impressive results David and I am now even more tempted to have my black 24v professionally polished when the repainting is completed and I have enough saved up! If you don't mind me asking what sort of cost was involved for the exterior and interior work? Regards, Matthew T.

Matthew,

The Xantia cost me £150 including a special bottle of shampoo, the XM cost me £120 as it didn't need as much work being silver.

That seems pretty reasonable David and well worth the investment, especially with the attention inside too!! Regards, Matthew T.
