Coincidentally, I sent Derek a mail yesterday asking for an update as he is only a couple of miles away from me and I am interested in a V6 (see above), but no response as yet.

hopefully you will get a reply, it sounds like it could be a nice car, a V6, any V6, is worth grabbing with both hands now i think. I hope you get it.

I forgot about this post! Obviously Ragger is in line and being honest I think I need to bide my time and wait until I have a little more cash available to extrude through the exhaust pipe!

Paul, it's an odd thing that in actual fact the 16v doesn't necessarily 'feel' that fast. There's virtually no torque and the punch of a turbo D seems quicker by comparison! A V6 I guess is loaded with torque! So, is the 24v a quicker car than the 12v? What were the power and torque outputs of both the V6s?

Hi Geoff, the 2.5 has more torque than any other engine fitted to the xm,including the v6's,the 2.1 only marginally below the v6.Power is obviously huge from the v6.My 2.1 epic with the performance module is certainly much quicker than standard, and on paper equals the 2.5 torque and power figures.

As for the 24v S1 XM - it REMAINS the fasted and quickest XM... 0-60 in 7.5seconds, and off the clock at 155mph....!!

I know this becuase Ive done it.. No doubt a looser engine with a few thousand miles would be quicker again now loosend up...

As for removing the 3 Three 'cats', I beleve they release 5 bhp each from that alone...

There is a target for my 2.1....

I did "Drag" it at about 9s or so though, so not too shabby.

Heard this from someone else too Paul. Roger Bradford pointed out your 24v at the CXM Rally and said they're a very fast car...to quote him:

"I had 150mph out of one of them...on two occasions!"

So the S1 XM came as both 12v and 24v? The 24v being the quicker but the 12v being the juicier note?

I didn't realise the XM could get to 60 in 7.5! Darn that's good and surely the epitome of XM ownership! Oh, I have to have one.

Robert - power module? What's this you speak of?! You on auto box or manual?

I know a couple of insane Romanian guys who have put the XUD11 in a BX and tuned them up (coarse tuning tbh, i.e. BIG turbo and uprated fuel pump (Bosch VE)) but they have been getting 7.5secs 0-60! OK it's a lighter car than the XM but the 2.1 seems pretty robust!

No Geoff, the 24v Manual has the BEST noise as its a Twin Plenium intake manifold...Absolutley awesome with the air intake pipes off!!!
