For some while the Cobalt car has weeped LHM from the FDV, which on inspection proved to be the end caps were leaking.
Having purchased a seal kit from Pleaides some while ago, today I set to this job.

After removing the FDV from the car the next task is to remove the spring clips holding the end caps in. This is a real chore as the clips fit in chamfered edge grooves and the end caps have a ridge turned on the top. This means that you can push the cap in, slip the ring out of the groove, but it then gets trapped by the end cap groove and any movement slips the clip back into the retaining groove.

It took about an hour to get all the rings out, after which stripping down the valve is fairly easy. I completely stripped it of all jets and filters and am sure it is working better as a result.

Fit the new O rings, refit all parts as taken out, then fit the end caps back.

The result is the hydraulics appear to be working better and there is no leaking, so all in, worth doing.

Does anyone know if the filters are available from Citroen, as the kit from Pleaides is ridiculously expensive.

Srry, no pics. the camera battery was flat and I needed to get on with the job.

Good stuff Will, it does seem that when any work is done on any hydraulic component it works better. I've noticed it every time I've done a height corrector. Getting rid of those little bits of debris that collect in the corners seem to make a heck of a difference.

Yep, that sums it up quite well paul.

I believe they're on the same shelf as hen's teeth, dodo eggs and bags of rocking horse manure...

Filters, p/n 95 534 068

Repair kit, 95 669 034 (NFP)

Two filters, five pipe seals and five O rings makes a cheap kit.

Might be a good idea to get some stock in whilst the filters remain available Will... Can't imagine them being available for much longer...

Another MOT test and another ticket gained. No advisories or comments at all, even when asked... :)

Last week I changed the leak off pipes and forgot to tighten the intake pipe jubilee clip, so the pipe blew off on the way to the MOT test...the car was rather lethargic to say the least. I borrowed a screwdriver before the test, so all was well.
