series 2 converting from petrol to diesel

Post by juggernaut-j » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:35 pm

hi i have a petrol 2000 vsx turbo auto and just bought a very low milage 1999 vsx td auto to replace it,as there are that many jobs that want doing on the td (including someone has done some welding at the side of it and the weld splatter has ruined all the glass on the drivers side)cant be cheap to replace.so i was wondering if anyone has done a conversion,if so is it straight forward or are ther any complications also are ther any problems with insurance
regards john

Another conversion on the horizon.

Yours will be easier in terms of swopping over for hydraulics as both cars are anti-sink.

However you are best to do a mechanical bosch fuel pump conversion on your TD lump, as I wouldn't fancy wiring up LUCAS EPIC.

Keep tabs on my progress, to see how it all fares out.

Id have thought Robert, the EPIC wiring would be all on the Engine loom, and would swap and plug into the Petrol car loom plugs under the LHM tank..

I could be wrong though..

Possibly, I don't know. I'd still convert to Bosch! :D

Paul is correct, all the wiring is contained within the power unit including all but one of the sensors, that is connected to the engine loom but sits on a seperate bracket. I too prefer the Bosch pump. 8-)

it would be logical to think the plug under the lhm tank would take any engine management loom that age car was built with, that way they could plug in any engine they wanted but maybe this is too simple and im talking rubbish too.

Heres hoping for plug and play, it would be a nice conversion if that was the case.
