The Search is over...

Post by markysimon » Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:52 pm

After months of traveling hither and yon throughout the land, I've finally managed to actually buy an XM... and a very special one at that. Having seen a lot of often rubbishy cars, all of which required varying degrees of work to make legal, acceptable or in some cases, even operational, I bit the bullet and bought this immaculate '97, V6, 24valve Exclusive. :)

Thirstier but also faster and smoother than the four pot turbos, both oil-burning and otherwise, I'd otherwise considered, this is a car that's wanted for nothing during its 106k life-span, most of it in the care of BL Autos in Hatfield, and drives like an almost new car. Frankly, it's fabulous and well worth breaking the bank for and will hopefully pay its way as my new daily driver. And thanks to various Forum members for their help, advice and forbearance during my sometimes grumpy quest...

Cheers - Mark

Then you NEED to try a Series 1 24v Manual! you think these S2 cars are quick and fast, they arent the fastest or quickest, the 24v S1 holds this.... :D :D

Otherwise, thats a VERY nice clean tidy example!

Yes, I gather the S1 24valvers are a wee bit faster, but they're also thirstier and I never came across one that wasn't much higher mileage than mine and didn't need work doing to it to get it anywhere the condition it's in. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, on this one work as it should (and yes, I'm holding my breath! ) and both body and interior are immaculate.

Yea, my 24v S1 is on 119k... im slowly getting round her.. yes they are a little heavy on the juice, as the PRV is an old design, the PSA V6 24v is a great unit, and reletivly fuel efficient, the xantia/autobox setup can return 35mpg, which for a 196bhp engine is wonderfull!

Id be surprised if you found a 24v, most have owners who want to hold on to them now..

Nice 24v Auto you have.

Well at least they both survived! Guess Citroen were block pre-registering them by this point in order to keep up appearances - or am I being too cynical? :?
