I'd say that is in good condition as the car hadn't sunk at all on the transporter.

Nope, it has not sunk a jot all the while I've had it here :D Suspension seems really good although due to the gearbox faults I can't run it long enough to test it fully.

Just discovered it has HID headlights too... Wondered what the funny boxes were behind the lights and then noticed that the dipped beams are very bright and white...

Not much is going to get done on LAB today :( Woke up, or rather it kept waking me :evil , with a bad back again this morning.

Bit of a story here. I woke up on Wednesday with a dull ache in the left lower back for no reason I could think of unless I slept 'funny'. Went up to pick up the XM later that day and thought nothing much more of it. It seemed to go off. On Thursday morning I had it a bit again and noticed it climbing into the cab of the lorry to when I drove it back to the hire depot.

The rest of the day it seemed OK.

Friday was absolute agony and I had to rest it. Yesterday was OK so I gave LAB a good clean up and got as far as removing the grille, front wheels and one headlight. Nothing very strenuous at all.

This morning it's back with avengence  Except this time it's gone over to my right side and all down my leg...

So it'll be a day of rest and writing up the Xantia Files column for the Citroenian...

I'm puzzled by the Exclusive trim's "hidden coat hooks" mentioned about the traps.

Are they something other than the slim hooks below the grab handles, either side above the rear bench?

Oh, and why no motor pictures - or have I missed them?

Cheers, Adam.

Hi Addo

The up market XM cars have foldaway coathooks set flush in the roof lining.

There you are Adam... Will this do?

Taken after grille and one headlamp removed....

Yep, those hooks. You press a button by the grabhandle and the hook pops out :D

The XM is full of little touches like that....

Those rotten bumper steels - I swear they are still painting them in black cellulose! Even here, they rust.

Nice drip tray. :P

Hi Jim

I see the bumper steel cross beam has some rust.
These are just painted steel and once rust sets in they can rust right through.
Well worth seperating and treating to preserve it.
Do not miss the two 10mm bolts behind the front number plate when you try to seperate it from the bumper.
The 13mm bumper bolts by the front wheel arch are also worth running out to lub (another minor rust area).
With your previous comments on HIDs I guess they will go so I will swap you a couple of undrilled lamp caps for them.
Pleased to see you are getting into the spirit of XM ownership.
Sorry your back is playing up and stopping you getting stuck in.

John
