Looking a lot better, Paul. Don't forget to rust-proof it inside the box sections.

Bit late for that now will...

Besides, you wouldn't beleve it, but the inner side of the metal inside the box's were ALL clean! It was crazy, the underseal had all lifted over time and she had rotted from the outside in!

I was pleased with the metal inside.

I think what happens at the subframe mount is that water gets in between the two plates so causes rust to form, in addition when the end plate fails, water enters the box section.

I am going to try to get into my repair sections with the wax gun.

Well.. after sitting looking sad after I fitted a small fuel link pipe to the 24v last time I did anything, I decided it was time to do it AGAIN and spur some life into her again..

She has sat for about six months after I fell out with myself for fitting a crap pipe after the first one split.. the second had a small hole in it that I missed, so it then peed out nearly a quarter of a tank of fuel, we pushed her into the corner and I left her...

So, after swapping the pipe over, there was just enough fuel in it to start up.. and hey presto, she spun over about about two starter clicks, and fired on ALL 6...

So, re checked for fuel leaks, none, she came up, so I moved her forward and put her on top.

I wanted to check the weld work I had done now the under seal had set...





Still looking fine.. So, one more hole to weld up then a bit more cosmetic attention...

Unpredictability terms I live on! The 24v has been on its side with two stands under the front and rear drivers side of the car awaiting for me to weld a hole to the floor right under the B Pillar!

Well, after a couple days work at mums, today, I jumped into my car at mums and went to the farm, upon arrival I opend the boot, and to my horror! NO TOOLS!!!
DOH!

Id left them at mums, half an hour away.. So thoughts turned to what can I do that doesnt need the mobile tool box...

Ah ha, I know... Weld this up on the 24v XM!



Its not easy to tell there above, but there IS a section of Double layer lower layer floor MISSING!



So, a little clean up, and a piece made, crack up the welder and apply..

Into place it goes, the welding doesnt look TOO great, and I had to put a patch on a patch at an awkward section.. anyhow, got it in place and tidied up. NOT taken a photo of it protected, I need to get some more under seal ..





What I AM pleased with though which I always do, the Lump Hammer test certainly sounded VERY SOLID, thats good enough for me!

However, sealeant can be applied easyilly on all four wheels... so.. put a battery on, and I have to say the car has been sat on her side for almost a year, but she started FIRST TIME!!!





So, all serious welding done, I just need to go round the brakes again and check them all..

But a nice suprise chance to get another job done on her!
