Im thinking more now of voicing my (illegal) views as a moderator of the forum! it is just an opinion though dVLA, honest!

The green one would be a winner (if clean) its a 3l V6 car anyway, you would just be fitting another 12 valves to it.

If Andrew's have not been scrapped they would probably be just as brown as yours by now :(

I agree with you about the welding, but you did say to transfer the VIN...

I dont know what your talking about Will.*
I was talking theoretically**, i meant that if you replaced so much of the car you may as well transfered a VIN, i wasnt implying you should actually do it, that would be wrong and illegal***

* I do
** I wasnt

I'm with Dean on this one. I've seen his thoughts put into practice on other marques and, if done right, have produced excellent results.

There's no doubting your attachment to this car Paul, but if it was a 2.0 or a 2.1 it would have been scrapped by now. You seem to spend ever more time chasing metal and less time driving it. Time to make your mind up what you're going to do - strip it down completely to a rolling shell and weld everywhere that needs doing, or completely re-shell it.

Even if you were to drive over to France and bring the lhd shell back yourself it would take less time than welding everywhere - and a lot less hassle. ;)
Write this year off, as no matter which you go you ain't gonna be driving that 24v, and do the job once . . . and do it right.

Personally I would re-shell it, make sure that the shell was sparkling before anything went into it, and not cut corners on anything. This doesn't have to cost a fortune to do as you already have the parts (and the knowledge) to do it.

A spare bare shell might be the way forward.
Type not critical.

Remainder of document available.
No mention of VIN for a replacement shell.
Perhaps it comes blank and the dealer sorted it as with rusted out VIN's on early Mk 1's.

Right... A re shell is a possibility however space and to a certain extent time are real issues for me..

The thought of a full strip down is a possibility.. The floor of the car is good.. The rear box sections were welded two years ago and still look goood.... Cills were done years ago and are still fine.. The main floor chassis is generally very good.. The off side box section under the B pillar was done last year..

This outrigger has come as a suprise to me.. The off side outrigger is good and solid so shouldnt need anything.. There was also a hole found last year in the sill section behind the wing curviture which i sorted..

The drivers inside front wheel arch is all solid its a bout of bad luck on the nearside. I need to look inside the car.. Pull the carpet back and see if i can get the foam far enough away from the arch to get a plate in.. The car is nearly there.

A point made above.. Am i likely to sell? No i dont and wont want to.. I think the amount of patching is prehaps a tiny bit excessive... But ive seen worse and have fixed worse.. And yes had this been a 2.1 or tct it would be parts by now..

Im talking myself out of huge work as i wont have the time to EVER finish her otherwise.. And id like to try and enjoy her best i can while i can.. So against better and best advice i think i need to do these two patchs the very best i can and im rather certain i should be on top of the body stucture for now..

I have a full car for outer body spares in the same colour but front wings are shot on it and also is the passenger front door.. The door skin on the inside just under the door card has completely disintigrated.. Anyway thats something else.

For me. I need to enjoy. Putting her back for a reshell could take me two years or never and i cant deal with that..

As you were....
