Well done Paul and in due course let us have a photo with the leads and cover fitted! I have just stripped and resprayed my engine front rocker cove that proved to be quite a challenge. The rocker cover original finish I suspect was powder coated and I had to resort to Paramose stripper as Nitromos hardly made any impression. With regards, Matthew T.

Hi..

Further work done this afternoon... I firstly swapped the HP pump yet again,as the one I had fitted previosuly I got a feeling was weeping LHM onto the rear exhaust... burning LHM is an awfull wiff too.

Got a stronger pump on, the PAS is nice now. Then I turned my attention to the cover...

Fitted the cover and leads...

Slight improvment..

Work on my spare front rocker cover is in progress...

Just need to get some black paint... not sure mat or gloss....

Looking good Paul! As regards the rocker cover, on mine I originally planned to use smooth black Hammerite, but then noticed that a primer was required. In the end I went for a gloss black engine paint hoping that will be the most durable. I think the original powder coated finish was somewhere between gloss and satin, but definitely not matt! I look forward to seeing her at the 'X' and I will probably be in my Platinum 2.0sei. All the best, Matthew T.

Further a CLOSE body inpection on the 24v.. Im afraid shes NOT going anywhere now, certainly not to X rally...

This lot has been found today:

Nearside Subframe mount.. Not holed but a little weak...

Offside Subframe mount - infact its holed on the side facing the front...

Offside subframe mount again..

Offside chassis rail, inboard of the cill... Cills ARE actually solid.

So with that lot, Im afraid X rally is not on her list. Im gonna aim for CXM instead, or possibly ICCR if I can get her done in time.

My own fault really. I was advised on the areas last year at her MOT.. but forgot or ignord them.. then forgot.. so the rust was allowed to carry on to the current state...

The all too familiar signs of rust. Luckily its not too far gone Paul, and is retrievable. Good luck with the repairs.

On a side note, the seemingly rust resistant Xantias are heading the same way as the Xms. I broke a 1995 Xantia this week that had some bad rust in the sills and back end.
