The gearbox is indeed the ME 5T Will and the filler plug location is the same on all my V6. Apparently from 1995 the MG5TB box was fitted and four cylinder petrol engines had the BE3. With regards, Matthew T.

Hmmm. Maybe there are two filler plugs, or more precisely, a filler plug and separate level plug.

On my cars there is definitely only one filler/ level plug Will and here are the instructions from Haynes. Regards, Matthew T.

I'll have a look at the end of the gearbox sometime, but mine are as in this photo. You can see the plug direcly behind the accumulator sphere.

Is the milk bottle an optional extra? Don't seem to have one of them on mine.

Been wondering why my tea always appears green tinged.

iirc, I was replacing the clutch and had removed the gearbox mount, which is underneath the reservoir.

My V6 gearbox also has the plug highlighted by Will and on the gold car the inside has been mangled, which suggests earlier use, so it would seem to be an alternative filling option. Interestingly none of the manuals refer to the upper plug, therefore I wonder if it was for factory installation? Regards, Matthew T.

You can buy new plugs, which come with standard hex drive, instead of the square drive, so no more mangling. They are definitely easier to use.
I changed both mine recently, ordered via my local Peugeot dealer, in stock next day. You can order any PSA part from a Peugeot dealer as they come from the same warehouse. Might be convenient for some.

Got under the car tonight to clean up the patch area ready for welding..

Its not too bad... However i got more scared about the arch instead.. It looked like surface rust.. But with a bit of picking and cleaning ive now got this...

The light grey to the right of the white is yup carpet sponge!!
This is how it started off..

This IS NOT GOOD! I cant weld that without a fire.. I cant remove it with the dash in situ.. I think there for this year its toast and wont be seeing the road. She needs a sttip out to weld a patch in there.. I have no bloody idea how thats got so bad there!

Im happy to say.. The drivers side is all solid and good!

This area is the arch just below the scuttle drain..

Unless you're worried about originality, it's probably time to think about reshelling that car.
