I don't think that you can put a personalised plate on a Q plate vehicle anyway. [other stuff edited out, as it may have been misleading]

If it was a 2 year old accident damaged car that was a ringer and you sold it to me i would want to pay substantially less for it, if i was decieved i may be tempted to sneak into your bedroom late one night with a selection of hot and sharp objects.

when we are talking about an ageing old Citroen i would be perfectly happy to buy said old citroen if it was wearing a nice, never welded, shiny body. If i found out it was full of brown with bits of Xantia stitched into it everywhere i would be reaching for the sharps bag again im afraid.

My dad rebuilt his particular version of some well known BL tat, it got jigged then recieved new inner and outer cills, then a complete floor, front and rear vallance, inner and outer front wings, outer rear wings, boot floor, bonnet and sections of the A pillar. He re-built a donor engine from the ground up but kept the existing manual box, this is legal and whats more has made the car more valuable. Is it the same car? noooooooooo, has it been built by a man in a shed? very much so. Would you be happier the body was of factory construction from a different car or of man in shed construction from aftermarket body panels.........?

At what point is it no longer the same car, when you replace a wheel bearing, a door, two doors? and would you be offering a future buyer a better product if it was full of patches or a clean rust free never welded shell?

Just putting it out there, i think you should stick your head up over the parapit to catch the poop the DVLA will throw if it could be percieved you were trying to decieve someone, i think you should keep your head down if your just restoring an old car and if using a new body gives the best end result then go for it, if it wasnt a monocoque nobody would care.

I have a perfect 1999 LHD (silver) shell available. If you cut out and transferred your firewall and scuttle (including the VIN) into this shell, it could be argued as being a repair of all of the rusty sections of yours...

no, we burnt him last year.

Im not saying hide it, i would tell anyone ive done it, especially if selling, if you can give me a moral or financial reason why im wrong in this instance im all ears but let me put it another way,

Your precious car will never be sold, it is for your enjoyment only and is full of rot, you have two choices, you can fill it with weld, which we all know is difficult to do in a way that gives a perfect OE appearance and structural integrity or you can take a bare, clean, gleaming shell and put everything onto it. You will then own a rust free perfect vehicle that will keep even the most extreme OCD sufferer happy, what would you do? new clean shell or chase it with a welder forever until it looks like a patchwork quilt?

I know what i would want to buy and i know what i would want to own, if i get slapped down for it thats fine, just my own opinion.
