That was very well spotted in the earlier photo Russ!! If I am honest it has been quite a mad escapade in many respects and there were moments of frustration and 'why am I doing this', including when it came to register and I had to obtain an official letter from Citroen confirming the production date, otherwise I would have got a 'J' plate! The costs do also mount up when you include registration and insurance on a chassis number for the MOT was expensive. I thought you would be suggesting an article at some point Robert and I am sure I can put something together! With regards, Matthew T.

Hi Norman,
Many thanks for the kind remarks and I hope to see you in it at Wetherby as usual! I recall that your car does not have a sunroof and it may be the later date and more personal spec. as suggested by Paul.
With regards,

Looks like Ebay Germany could be the next BEST place for parts, certainly things that arent LHD/RHD specific..

Just found a complete electric arm rest, currently 5 euros.. Sent a message asking if they will send to UK...

Wonder if Ill find my wood trim too...

What wood trim are you looking for?

As for sunroofs: I would not have bought my trusty XANTIA without it. Even though the first day I suffered a soaked rear seat due to blocked drains, having to pick up people from the airport. Never happened since. I would not have bought my first XM without one, and neither the second. I am not claustrophobic but I need some air/space/light above me. Cannot stand cars without a sunroof. If the sun gets too much, you can pull this cover in front of it, can't you?

OK, that they are not well build, I know. Suffered leaking GS and CX... but the XM's seem OK. The CX us bad but I knew when I bought it, a sunroof and it does leak which is a bad bad bad job to fix and I don't seem to get around it.

Any series one wood.. centre console mainly.. radio flap, gear lever and rear window switchs sections.... manual sort for the gear lever so there's no P R N D 3 2 1 on it...

From 1996 cars were having air-con fitted as standard so the sunroof was dropped in favour of air con. I don't think any post 1997 XM has a sunroof unless paid extra for.

I am sure you are correct Will, although it is strange that early high spec. cars generally had both features. The lack of a sunroof on an XM does provide more headroom and you really do not notice the reduced light, especially with everything being black! Although extra ventilation can be useful I find that above 40mph wind noise is quite excessive, whilst I know deflectors can be fitted. One thing I notice with not having a sunroof is that there is no water in the boot, which all my other cars suffer from!! Regards, Matthew T.

I loathe sunroofs for all the reasons you have just mentioned. Other than my Xm's I haven't had a sunroof in a car since 1989.
