Although my early car does have it. I prefer the brakes on the later one, they are razor sharp.

I prefer the feel of non ABS brakes. Infact although Jim's v6 Xantia was a surprise to begin with, (spring taken away for proper citroen brake pedal feel) the brakes on that are excellent and I could really get used to them.

Ah - my V6 with ABS has a reasonable amount of pedal travel, whereas the 2.1 has almost none, the former is a lot more natural to me. Is this a characteristic of abs vs non abs brakes?

A proper CItroen brake pedal feel is an odd rubber mushroom you squeeze...

I think the S2 had a spring added to put more travel in the pedal to give it a more normal feel. So not to put of buyers I can only assume.
With it removed it is rock solid, Like Jims Xantia. :D I like that though. Mine has much less travel too. My Sisters KA on he other hand has the worst brakes in the world. Very scary after driving the Citroens...both XM and C5!

I like the solid pedal my Xantais have and I find the XM quite long and spongy in comparison. I'd love to be able to make the XM pedal feel like the modified Xantia ones...

You can.

Set the free play to less and lock the spring loaded pushrod locked using some pins through it.

Extra ordinary days for Liz's XM. First I had to take this lovely car it to Liz's petrol station some 90 kilometers away. Our bank made a mistake and cancelled Liz's bank card so she could not pay for the diesel for the Derv XM. (just back from our long trip in the Derv and only yesterday no money in the Irish account since today is payday....:( ) I know I know, we ALWAYS CARRY 2 cards except....well yesterday.

Than last night I jump started 2 cars. The first was a '07 Honda Accord at the same petrol station and later at work a customer's BIG Range Rover....well a big ROVER anyway but not that strange model Rover. .both had been standing too long with lights on and with people in it waiting for some one or what ever. The range rover story became nicer: an expensive mobile phone with a torch, fell in between some modern engine parts...Found it in the end. Great car, love that Rover but not too great a battery. 2008..how long does a battery last, you never know. Oh yeah, no news on the XM but enjoyed driving it for a change, much livelier than the Diesel! And, the ABS light has been out ever since, unlike her colleagues! :(

Pet hate of mine. Muppets sat in their car, or leaving them on whilst they go into a shop, headlights blairing away, blinding everyone in sight.

I would have left them stranded.

Good news once again: Liz came back with no smile on her face, just to pull my leg as it seemed.

The XM passed it's NCT once again first time. I hadn't looked her over really, just a few basics but nothing more. Changed the XENON for standard bulbs and checked to see if they were well aimed. On the garage wall: after once having it done by mr. NCT I put a few marks on my wall).
Couldn't think of anything to fail her on but you never know, do you.

Values are excellent, imbalances etc. are practically nil or negligible and emissions are as if the car were new.

XM's aren't all bad :)
