One downside to having a S1....not looking forward to trying to replace one of them!

Bendix, for me is good! Its easy to bluff a MOT pass with Bendix! In all my XMs most have been Bendix, and only 2 sensors to change! I have had 4 Teves cars, and all of them had had some ABS faults that weren't sensors or bad connections!

My S1 has no ABS! :D :D :D :D Magic!

A nappy bunny Jim!!!......

I know he seems down on not having ABS. Blessing in my opinion. I was under the impression Citroen hydraulic brakes were pretty good anyway.

I do agree with Paul, but I also diasgree with him! If I was to drive a XM daily again, it must have ABS, my XM is a toy, so it doesn't need ABS. I have driven a XM without ABS for a few months, a SD Manual, and I really ABS on it. But I have been brought up on ABS cars, the Xantia I learned to drive in that became my first car had ABS, my second car, my Si XM also had ABS. I can forgive my 1990 SD for having no ABS as its one less MOT thing to worry about and its never driven much, and only driven during summer where ABS is not as essential as it is now in winter.

In fact it has now got worse for me, I think that ESP is now an essential piece of kit! I have noticed the benefits of ESP on the 407 on 3 occasions where I have felt the back end want to do its own thing! :? :? I have had XM back ends start to step out on me as well, so don't tell me that XMs are the be all and end on all in the handling department!

It's FFS Russ - Fat Finger Syndrome. I suffer it terribly and rely on my browser to spell check. If I fail to see a red line under a word I assume it's OK. Nappy is a valid word... Just not in this context!

Yes, Citroen hydraulic brakes are fine without ABS - I drove my first Xantia for months upon months before realising that a) it had ABS and b) it was not working

Maybe my driving style but I very rarely invoke ABS. Once or twice I've known it kick in and both occasions was to spare a cat one of its nine lives...

  FFS!
Nappy is a very valid word. Something one might need if you have no ABS!

Not had it interfere yet on mine, but then haven't really called for it. I don't really like the feel of ABS brakes on a typical car, compared to a normal braking system that is. But the XM's do feel nice and positive. Good thing I suppose.

Do rear sensors fail a lot on XM's because of the exhaust?
I checked mine and they look absolutely new, but apparently they suffer as well?
It's new to me, but .....I take it you can use front ones, they are 1.3 metres and should be long enough?

soo....oil warning pressure light on today. So topped it up with oil. Just some miles along, temperature going sky high, steam the lot..........NO NO it's NOT the XM!:)

But I fear for my colleagues Kia... Now I, did check the XM's oil level last week...but some people apparently never do, so I found out today.
