Good work Jaap, especially the fuel leak! They're never nice things.

Many Xantia owners have been confused by the blower only running when the engine is started and running so don't feel at all bad about it ;)

Read up elsewhere on here about the F2 fuse for the proper fix.
Burnt fuses are only part of the problem and seldom last long when replaced.
The F2 problem on Mk 2 XM's was so common that even Citroen noticed.
Around 1997 they increased the fuse rating to 40 amp recommending it be retrospective.
This fix of theirs just made the problems worse.

If you are dealing with F2 forget the fuse box, cut the wires and put in a jumbo size 40 amp fuse with heavy wires.
It will then outlast the car.

I have read that tip elsewhere as well and I do plan to do this but it is good for all to check the fuses and do this soon. But I got caught up in another fix that I deemed more important, no next weekend or so. I mistakenly thought, it would be more prone to happen with air conditioned cars but none of my cars have airco. So I take it the blower motor draws a lot of amps..

Yes the blower can draw continuous power.
The crap pressed metal contacts on the fuse board are hardly fit for 20 amps.
They burn up and degrade so speeding the burn out of any new fuse.

Well, at last something to mention on this for ever faithfully commuting XM.

And it's very boring but nevertheless quite annoying. Especially since I repaired the window cable a couple of years ago....yes you guessed right. Drivers side window down-loose-whatever and of course this doesn't happen on a beautiful sunny day but in lashing rain.
I'll fix it, no worries but I am ashamed to say my repair didn't outlast the car, which I had expected on this window. Ah well, Murphy's law rules I guess and it's dry in the garage which is a bonus for now :)

Oh no! Typical XM windows. Hope you get it fixed permanently this time Jaap. Nothing in the door causing the cable to strain and weaken?

I've been too harsh on myself. I never repaired this window. Still the cable broke.
Question arises now, since I have a donor window regulator but it has a black plastic electronics box attached to it. I assume this is for the one touch system that originally I don't have on this car. I'll be stuborn and put it in for now anyways. The cable has been replaced in the past on this donor even though it wasn't by me.I'll give it a go now.

Hi Jaap,

You can change the motors over. Be careful when removing the motor from the wheel that the cable wraps on to.
