Don't forget as well if it's sat for a while and the sender gauge hasn't moved then it will be a little sticky as its not been doing much moving
If you do venture into the tank maybe give the float lever a good workout

Re: Paul's 2.1Sd manual K47 BAN.. On the road
I put a fuel can in the boot.. albeit empty and continuied driving.. the needle went down to just above the 0 before i chickened out and put more in but know now she will go on to the 0...
Ive done 600 miles already so put two halfs in already.. so shall see how she goes. I think she is now up to 40mpg.

Ok new calculations and estimates..
I think the front brakes are holding on very slightly.. comming to a stop where other cars would prehaps roll back K Ban doesnt i can feel a slight and i mean slight hold on the brakes.. parking brake is slightly tight so either cables or equaliser need attention..
However further fuel calculations.. 40 quid in at 1.18 a litre and 320 miles.. that gives me an estimate of around 42mpg.
So getting better...

Ha yea i know it was roughly that... ill see 45 once ive got the parking brake freeing up fully..
I also found the throttle cable about three notches out of adjustment so the flatish performance was because of cable setting.. now going a little better..

Good stuff Paul!
Have to be careful with sticky brakes as they can quickly lead to warped rotors and useless pads

Rotors/discs...
Strange that they stick enough to cause mpg to be 15% down would leave some heat in them.
I've seen ones affect cars MPG's less and still be made hot enough to warp ;(

Hi Paul
Had similar to you in mine, and resorted to check the brake doseur lever adjustment, it *was* kind of "brakes on" a bit, just a tad. I've set it to just the point where there's no contact between the rubber button and the lever, ie you can slide a piece of paper in between. The difference is well felt, it's 100% free now -made me wonder if I'd been driving like that for years, or this has developed with time and wear of the levers.
