The hole in the roof that exposes the worm drive screws, where the motor cog engages is where the water was leaking, it was then running around the motor and dripping out of the blue switches. When I poked the grease out of the way I got a stream of water come out, so dread to think what the state of the housing is. Hopefully there's enough old grease in there to keep damage at bay, and it should dry off now too.

I could be swayed to do this too....if wasn't so difficult.

Mind you I have been driving around with the visor back and I am enjoying the extra light.

It's great until the sun starts shining through it and blinding me in my left eye. Then it gets pulled again for another few months until I go 'oooh look, light'!

I've sealed mine like you a couple of years ago on my TD. 10mins, job done, nothing visible unless you look from 10cms at it. Not a drop of water since. Have stuffed foam above the shutter too -quieter on the motorway. Forgotten about it... I replaced the silicone last year though -old one pulls off nicely and no hassle...

On the 24v V6 on the other hand, sunroof is (still) behaving.

Now to seal up the TD's leaking rear light... :D

I need to stuff foam above the blind I think! If I leave it open overnight now it's ruddy freezing inside! Glad I havent got leather.

Oh, and 8 torrential downpours later and not a drop of water has (visibly) entered the cabin!

I have condensation in one rear reversing light. I remember it being fine before I put the seal back on, may have to whip it off and remove the seal again...

Cleaned the wheels with G101 and foamed her up

2bm wash with Farcela bodywork detox, then dried.

Then...

Was a bit too cold for hard wax, so laid some of this down

Went over the miles of trim with CG Trim Restorer, the miles of glass with isopropyl alcohol and again over the glass with RainX

Car up high for doing the bottom trim helps alot! Good for washing the arches too

Should do for another 6 months!

 ...wow! Nice job Sam. Looks great.

The pic of the car all sudded up looks like it has the worlds smallest and most pointless rear wiper!
I know it is a trick of the eye...

Looks incredibly simple. Is this miracle stuff that loosens up the dirt and leaves a wax layer, I have no knowlegde about any of this stuff. But the result looks great. Nice car!

Cor, that shines Sam :D

All mine need the same. I've not cleaned any of mine for months - certainly well before CXM. Just not had the time.

Even my dad noticed how mucky the XM was

Your winter wheels are here Sam. When you collect them you're more than welcome to wash and polish mine ;)

Ditto here. Even liz who thinks washing cars is something very very strange, mentioned vaguely about her plans maybe maybe wash that XM somewhat :) Pointless exercise though, if you live in the country side of Western Ireland..:(
