Actually, mine does the same but I never really bothered to find out why. All other functions are present and correct, nice display of fuel consumption and all but no distance on remaining fuel.

I always wondered how on earth it can guess how much fuel is left in the tank (it can't, actually, it has to start with the assumption of a full tank and go on from there).

It uses the fuel level sender as the sensor. It might be worth having a look at it.

There is no direct connection to it. It might get some data back from the instrument cluster control unit, the circuit diagram doesn't reveal that. But my fuel level meter works all right. This still leaves three wires between the instrument panel and the display that might, theoretically, be responsible (with a contact problem) but they aren't marked on the diagram as to what signal they carry.

What makes me wonder besides this is that the board computer diagram doesn't mention the fuel level sender, neither on the circuit or the harness diagram. They normally show all related parts even if the connection isn't that direct.

It's working again. Also I've notice my gear selector getting stiff between changes. Any ideas ??
