The pads are fine Jaap. Next set I'll make sure the wires are all linked up. The current ones simply don't have them.

Put a switch into the circuit and you can switch it on to display that brake pad message any time you fancy... :-)

Haha no thanks. When the pads are low is enough for me.

need to get the abs message up tomorrow while the light is on. I think there is a sensor out it flickers but thats all. Then rev counter and we have cracked the electric transplant. I think ive got the wrong tdc sensor for the curcuit for the rev counter. The 1994 car uses the tdc on top of the bell house for the rev counter where as the H reg car uses the xantia style sensor. It appears they dont seem compatible with each others car harnessess..

Is the worn pad message just as obtrusive as the ABS one? I disconnected the second quite some time ago, if there is any ABS problem, the warning light is enough but the display would overwrite everything.

Warning message IS fed from the illuminated lamp on the dash. Theres a feed from the lamp to goes directly to the message box. Removing the abs bulb DOES put the message out! However. I want it all working. The low pad wear working is just a rareity and luxery. Of all the xm ive seen the wires are useually broken in the wheel arch.

Come on, I know how it's connected, that wasn't the question. I was speaking about it being obtrusive. When there is an ABS warning, it masks all other messages most of the time (including the radio). This is why I decided to cut that wire that I know well enough where it comes from :-) and to go only with the warning light instead. I just wanted to know whether the worn pad message behaved similarly or not.

I also prefer to keep a stock look but I'm perfectly all right with some invisible modifications like this one, or a USB socket instead of a cigar lighter or a parking radar carefully installed in a just-like-as-if-from-factory way.

Ah im sorry. I thought you were the ONLY person reading this.

I know you know the xm well you wrote a very informative guide. But there are others who dont know everything lime us.

No the worn pad messages doesnt stay on because the warning light doesnt stay on. It only comes up when you press the pedal and the lamp illuminates. . Obvioisly the abs message stays up because the lamp is permanetly illuminated

yes it is intrusive but then if it is.. get the problem fixed. Citrojim wrote up a fantastic detailed fix on the bendix abs block which causes a lot of bendix issues..he fixed his electro valves.. sensors an easy check and I assume ecus that are fairly reliable.

I don't think it's merely because of the warning lamp feed as the microcontroller inside the message unit is clever enough to make decisions (there are many steady inputs, still it can easily decide when and for how long to show them and how to prioritize when there are simultaneous messages to display). The ABS was made to stay for a reason, of course. I don't get that very often, fortunately, and you're completely right that it deserves fixing then. I simply decided for myself that even in that case, the constant light would be enough to warn me without the constant error message.

But I never saw the worn pad message myself, as usual. :-) Either broken wires or changing the pads earlier if caught during a check or, probably, both...

Well this car has also just sat in pieces.. however.. i did rob the fuel pump off it as it was leak free and stuck it on K Ban.. so it was a non runner for some time.. so . I decided in a moment of boardem to try a xantia 1.9 td bosch pump on it.

In my amazement with no pump adjustments... it worked!!

Car a non priority now with having K Ban..

I do have other plans for the car now..

She will return. . Over and out.
