I see, A good clean up of the coil, leads and plugs should fix it Charles...

It's not just the panel that needs to come off but the coil pack and inlet manifold for the back three so letting the garage do makes goo sense.

One thing they may find is some plug wells are oily. That doesn't help. The oil in no.1 well especially often comes from careless topping up of oil as the well is right by the filler. Oil in other wells means leaking camboxes!

Hope all is very good soon!

Well, just waiting for the second set of plug leads as an idiot ordered three not six and I am certain that whichever bank of cylinders it goes on will be the wrong one.

Meanwhile Trapperjohn (who is giving the diesel XM a working holiday in the North West) very kindly took it to Malcolm at Savoy today who has sorted some of the comedy dashboard effects but also found that the strut tops, while OK for now, would need attention, which my Indy also mentioned to me. So as I have some time to contemplate this joy, I understand I have to have them removed then sent to Lithuania?

I have done the calculations and it is cheaper me leasing my brand new Volvo than keeping my XMs on the road. Still, I have been offered an exchange gearbox with brakes and one driveshaft for my SM for less than the cost of fitting new brakes, so that's a start to resolving that mess. My Allard passed its Mot with no advisories, but to make up for that pair of ladders, the snakes appeared in the form of a nail in my Mercedes 190 tyre and welding of important suspension components not being attached to anything. Good thing I have an observant MOT tester, as that car has been through a Mercedes specialist and a classic car restoration business who fitted entirely new suspension all round.

There are only 3 HT leads, the coil pack sits directly on the other 3 plugs!

I'll always take them off your hands Charles. I run and look after enough V6s to make it likely I'll need some one day...
