One reason the centre sphere can take a lot of effort to undo is because the system was still pressurised when the engine switched off.

To release the pressure, the car has to be lowered and have the pressure relief screw undone with the engine still running and a door open to ensure soft mode is engaged.

Looking at my diary I doubt it will be much before April before I get the SM back. I'll be in touch!
No problemo Charles..., sounds like your getting there with the black xm ;)

Took the black one out for a proper drive on the rotten roads of home and while I wouldn't say it was perfect, it is a lot lot better. Certainly a car I can happily take out on a test drive with viewers.

But for going to a little car brunch meet tomorrow in the Cosworth, i'd be out there machining away at the black car, but the weather is holding up nicely.

A very good run again, a little voice kept saying "tyres" so I checked them - they're all 95 rated, which is higher than necessary. Add in them being quite hard rubber, it just adds a bit of choppiness.

If I were keeping the car I'd shove on Michelins or Contis, but I'm not so I won't!

Aircon on the black car has been fully charged, Paul having fitted a replacement condenser, and it is ice cold, perfect timing. Now all the work I need is done, time to clean it up and get it sold.

Of course it's now a much improved car to when I bought it, ride is far better and many things sorted, a part of me says keep it, but an email today says sell, being the bill for my SM. When Nard doing the work told me I might need to sell a kidney, he was half right!

Just popped Lucifer all 150 yard up the road for the MOT. Of course, the driver's window has decided to stop working completely. Rubbish connectors I suspect, given Paul plugged it all back together and it worked with no problem last week. The front o/s indicator wasn't working last week, all plugged in, and when I got it out both sides of the connector were corroded.

Of what I heard ( I was away) you did suffer quite some waterfloods all over the place...Easily fixed your problem!

To drown the car would alas have flooded me!

It passed its MOT though - the front bulbs were sitting slightly off, but garage fixed that straightaway. So now I need to persuade the window to open again - there's no sound of motor working when I depress any of the front o/s switches.

Not anything to do with breaking or snapped wires in the door jamb, in the black conduit piping thing. I have reason to believe some of mine have gone for the puddle light. Nightmare to get to though.

Excellent news on the MOT. :)
