Ah...heater matrices....the old citroen Achilles heal :| I had go on a xantia I had once...it was messy, but once fixed lasted a lifetime ;) Valeo recommended adding Forte stock leak into the system once a matrix was replaced...It was even written on the warranty paper in the box :)

That landrover needs a bloody good wash does it

I would have hoped the new heater matrix would have lasted more than the 4 months it's been in the car, but it seems to be the pipes going in.

All looked at and it is the heater matrix, gone after 4 months. New one going to be fitted tomorrow.

Since it was replaced it must have been a fairly simple job to replace. Love that LARO but in this case it should never be washed let alone polished:)

Hopefully it was a one off bad one Paul, but I shall be taking note of Vince's Forte leak suggestion.

In the game of snakes and ladders that is XM ownership, the black XM's front window now works again, entirely without any intervention from me, but the air-con has stopped cooling. I supposed it lasted two weeks on the recharge following the replacement of the condenser. Black on black cars are a little warm when the sun comes out!

So, took the diesel XM out tonight, the first time in the dark since the heater matrix was replaced. Since then the coolant temperature gauge is resolutely un-moved at zero. Like this

Image

But with the lights and the right indicator on (which also gets the high beam light flashing) the temperature gauge displays a slightly higher temperature

Image

The first time I noticed I thought oh sugar, how on earth has that happened, but observing it move left me reassured it was yet another XM glitch!

Computer already shut down so I can only consult the diagram tomorrow but this will be an earthing problem, almost sure. And something simple at that.

Or possibly a duff temp sensor Charles that is quite an easy fix! With regards, Matthew T.
