I don't mind the highjack - Air Balloon sounds good to me, and I can manage most evenings.

Oh, and I've finally swapped back to Gandalf, as the water loss on Saruman was getting too much. They're were a couple of little jobs to work though. Today I swapped the lock barrels between the front doors so that the one that keeps jamming is in the passenger door. I just have to reconnect the drivers door lock to the rest of the central locking.

I also investigated the bust speedo and traced it to the upper speedo cable - nfp naturally, so the hunt is on for a replacement, although I may have to see if Speedy Cables can make me a replacement.

I have a new 'phone I'm using so apologies in advance for autocorrect errors, and when I work out how I'll post some pics.

The door locks are not identical.
The difference is with the plastic actuator on the back end.
They are coloured black or white and have offset operating pins to suit a particular side of door.
Fitting the wrong one usually leads to unlocking problems.

I did notice the difference, but I seem to have got away with it.

Maybe someone has been there before!
I will list the correct colours when I find the note of them.
There is a large end opening that the plastic pin fits into.
Fit a correct one and it goes in dead centre of the hole.
Fit the wrong one and it goes in right at one end of the operating range.
Have known that leave a Mk2 drivers door lockable but then permanently deadlocked.
Just make sure it is not your only way in.

I think it was the correct way around originally, as the movement of the key is uneven between locking and unlocking. No deadlocks on this one, but if I can't get in that way There's always the tailgate

It's only temporary until I can get some replacement locks - am I right in thinking that berlingo one might fit?

There are a lot of locks now offered on ebay.
They tend to be cheap and nasty copies with very poor quality internals.
I bought a set to check them out.
Only thing of value was a couple of matched keys.
Springs and tumblers were not even fit for the lock spares box.
XM door locks used outer cases unique to the car.
There is no quick fix to fit new internals in XM cases.
To mix and match you have to go down to the level that our glorious site leader Ciaran describes as "pingfuckets".
Clean white sheet on the desk top to retain all the bits.
They roll too much on a solid top or board.
