Took the XM to work today, a 100 mile round trip to get the fluids circulating!

No leaks and gear shift is definitely improving.

The height corrector rebuild kit has arrived. Aimming to go to the Shalbourne rally on Sunday so won't be stripping any hydraulics out until after that!

Filled her up last night after a couple of trips to work.

Averaged just over 28mpg which I am pretty happy with.

Off to get some more Dextron II now to finish the gearbox flush. Also sorting out why my brother Felicia won't start in the mornings! At least it is a nice simple car!!

Glad I have a nice warm dry garage today .

That is about what I got on my 830 mile trip up north Rob and good news about the gearbox oil changes! With regards, Matthew T.

Very happy camper. The leaking power steering pipe has proved to be leaking but very slowly. Enough to shelve the job for the time being. The height corrector showed its true colours when I was investigating the PAS pipe. I had a overhaul kit in stock. Yes it does have exactly the same part as the DS so availability not an option issue! Rebuilt the height corrector and bunged it back on last night. The suspension is now better than ever. No immediate leak issues so looks like we are sorted.

Well done Rob. Has the new height corrector improved ride quality? I have heard degunking them helps a lot.

It has really made a difference to the ride quality!

Mine wasn't as bad as some that I have seen but still wasn't a pretty sight.

Job went well too.

Did my front HC a little while ago, the first time I've worked on one.
Was surprised how small the shaft movement is in one of these.
As you say, Rob, extraordinary that the design of these hasn't changed from DS onwards; someone must have got somethimg right!

Great stuff. Must do mine at some point then. I think I will clean out the spares I have and do a direct swap.

Other than leaking so losing suspension pressure, how does the height corrector change ride quality?

Darren Cross told me the same, after cleaning the height correctors on his XM, he said the ride was much improved.
