I like its simplicity as my other cars are just so complicated. I also like its reliability. All I can remember failing on it was the alternator and the starter motor. Everything else is pretty well original and the heads have never been off. It's still on its original rear discs, all 4 wheel bearings, ball joints, steering rack, suspension and track rod ends. What it has had, though, are numerous LHM fluid changes and about 80 oil and filter changes during my ownership.

Thanks. It's certainly an original and preserved car.

I bought a new front bumper for it 10 years ago and will get that fitted this week. The original is slightly marked and the chrome is a bit dull.

Then that's it. No more fettling. Just some polishing and unwrapping of some new genuine XM mats and that's all. I might detail the engine if I can find the time.

Spent 30 minutes yesterday replacing the drivers side side rubbing strip chrome inserts ( all 4 parts ) with new ones I bought 15 years ago. It all looks great now.

Despite what I said above, I shall be detailing the engine having been a bit inspired by some other cars on here. Well, gotta have a hobby.

Brad,

If you are looking for a home for your old bumper then I have one.......Mine is a bit more than 'marked' read, split and scuffed. I was about to repair it but a good, albeit used, replacement would be better.

If you are prepared to part with it then perhaps we could discuss a price?

Is the white one that's currently being broken anywhere near you?

No, 'up North' on Doncaster. I am in Wiltshire, not that far from you in the grand scheme of things.

I have emailed them to ask about some parts for mine but will have to wait until a working day for a reply.

She does look like an excellent spares car. I know that mine has the 24V alloys (with a mixture of tyres but all with deep tread) but I would love to put her back onto the 'original' wheels as on the breaker. Unfortunately I have more important things to invest in on the car than wheels, still, one can dream.

Hi Rob,

I intended keeping the old bumper but will photograph it at the weekend and let you have a look at it. It is very good, really, but is only getting changed as I have the new one.
