Thanks D & J . . . Explains a few things, including the manual's statement that the auto-diagnosis routine both checks system and clears no-longer-present faults (or at least that's what I think it's saying!).

AFAIK the auto diagnosis does not clear stored faults. Once a fault has been detected nothing but the proper procedure using diagnostic equipment like the Lexia will clear them and reactivate the self diagnosis procedure.

Theres two disks, a gold one and an orange one. Put the car in MAX height, top setting, and the indicator orange disk should be between the red lines on the slight glass.

Good pic.. as above.. NO NO NO green in that glass... On top setting, MAX Height, the GOLD disc, should be between the RED lines on the sight glass....

Here we have conflicting statements. Allow me to correct. Like White Exec also states, it's the little orange umbrella that indicates the level. There would be no need for that part if it were the metal disk. The metal disk when sunk closes electrical contacts to trigger a low level warning on the instrument panel.

Thanks jan.. YES I did conflict in my two statemensts.. However I really couldnt be bothered changing it.. with the way things are here at the moment i had lost interest... still have

Thanks for the correction..

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I took the sight glass out this morning as per instructions and sure enough the disc dropped, so My XM has too much green blood! Had a longish drive to Canterbury today & starting to get more used to it. It was just the sort of trip ideal for the XM, long rolling A roads to cruise quietly along!

Well today I realized that I'd washed the XM twice and it hasn't been used at all in that time, so took it for a quick spin as a treat! Also took some new pics by the sea.

Went to the FCF Robertsbridge area meeting today after breakdown man jump started it from his booster pack (note to self, use the XM a bit or even at all!). Found the headlights were flashing on & off together with alarm warning and it's raining. Never mind head out to Bodiam Castle to meet Citronut about an hour later than planned. I missed someone else in a silver BX (cant remember the name), but met Malcolm for some lunch, well he'd had his already. We didn't bother with the Easter egg hunt as it was raining! Luckily he knew how to sort the headlight flash thing, so all good

A couple of weeks ago someone managed to put a small dent & scrape on the drivers door & front wing, most annoying! A lot has polished out & I got my hand inside the wing to push out a bit of the dent.
