I think there must be a few of those but there were hundreds of CXs. That't not a French reg is it?

I think that there were a couple of companies doing after-market ambulance conversions, I have seen other styles for sale.
That is an "old style" French regional registration, with up to 4 digits, 2 letters and then the 2 digit department number.

I've never really understood these ambulances. I understand a trolley with a patient would fit all right but how about a paramedic? I take it these cars were only used to transport patients from a to b but not as an ambulance ?

You need to be aware that the French word "ambulance" has a broader meaning than the English word, it broadly means transport for sick people, so includes a taxi used by a person walks with a stick, wheras the English term is reserved for emergency services vehicles.

I believe that the XM ambulances generally had a back seat installed on one side so that the paramedic could sit beside the patients head.

This DS ambulance brochuregives an idea

Yes, the husband in the passenger side thought the milkman should do the honours driving his wife to hospital, since it's HIS baby after all

Now one of those with a PRV V6 24v would be something!! I assume the 2.0i or 2.1td injection were normally fitted, in which case not that quick to the hospital. I have long wondered why someone has not imported an example to the UK that would be quite unique at rallies, plus you could definitely sleep in the back!! Regards, Matthew T.

I don't think Paramedics had been invented when the CX came out and possibly not the XM. ;)
