That makes me wonder, do the small compression fittings act differently from the larger ones? I've installed dozens of them in 10-12mm pipes, all of them under normal hydraulic pressure, sudden changes of directions and above all, vibrations constantly - and yet never have I seen a COMPRESSION FITTING being the weakest link!

There is a slight change in Copper pipe composition at 15mm and above.
These pipe are rigid drawn copper the smaller ones are rolled flexible copper.
Compression "o" rings also vary in composition and rigidity.
I think that alters the joint performance particularly under vibration.
I would expect the soft to be better than the rigid.

Yes, some smaller fittings come with very thick brass olives, you want the thin copper olive ideally, it is the larger sizes that suffer more with movement.

Okay, thanks, that clarifies a bit.

I found two previous owners (by accident in Internet) and learned that leather seats and wooden lists have been added in early 2000 and they're not car's original interior, interesting.

Height adjustment system has some problems, probably related to.. balance system, somehow, not sure how to put it in English but something like that: a small bar had come loose from system that takes care the height is correct, therefore the back of the car didn't stay in right position; it only went straight up or down and if I put it in middle, it changed it's height downwards on every bump..

Going to build a ramp of some sort to get the back up enought. I'm not interested in being killed by XM so it's going to be rigid, built from old rake's very hard metal parts.

I'm trying to get the car to MOT before summer. Would be great. I'll see if that happens, just now we're planting lots of sugar beet, also grass etc. so sitting in the tractor every hour I'm not working in the barn so XM has to wait.

Good luck with the ramp building. A long, gentle ramp is the best way to get the front or back end up for work on the underside.

Another way, if you have the space, and are going to be there for a long time, is to build a couple of long concrete walls, about 1m high, car (wheel width) apart, and with ramp ends. This way the whole car can be up high and level, for all sorts of work.
Could be useful for farm machinery too...

Too bad I cant come up with any farm machine that could be useful, the scale is a bit different. But yes, since I'm going to have XM's and such, I should build such surface-pit at some point. At this point, this should be enought. Installing exhaul pipes would be very annoying without pit or something like that.

Yes, you're right. I suppose a combine harvester is just a little bit wider than an XM!
"Surface pit" is a very good description.....must remember that.

Heh, for farming equipment, it's a small one - putting all the machinery under roof before winter is like playing tetris. It's available for fixing the XM only briefly during the summer.
