XM (1990, 2.0i, Y3, manual, leather) in Finland
Pics taken the day I got the car. A bit mold etc. Cleaned it with wife, she was excited too.
Too bad whilst test driving the car, the height control seemed a bit rusty and back end dropped down. Therefore one of the petrol tank's collars was screwed up. It also killed a hydraulic hose or pipe.
It seems very, very interesting to jack the whole thing up since it's on the GROUND, literally. Are all XM's this way? I remember Xantia didn't drop all the way to the GROUND, I mean, literally, car's bottom is touching the ground.
This individual seems to stay up for up to an hour after you turn the engine off.
It's got 320 000 km in meter when I bought it.

A bit too much detail there...Rojekti wrote:Cleaned it with wife, she was excited too.

Welcome to the forum, lovely looking car, rare colour too.
When you say you cleaned it with the wife all I can imagine is a (probably angry) lady being dipped in a bucket of soapy water and dragged across the car like a sponge
Is it wrong I love those headlamp washers too? They shouldn't work as they are too bulky but I think they do.
Dropping in an hour is a bit quick, the spheres could be flat giving a hard ride and these symptoms.
On uneven ground dropping the suspension fully will result in the bottom touching the ground, on a smooth surface there should be maybe 50mm clearance under the car.
Good luck with it!

Welcome to the Forum and that is an interesting early car with the 2.0i engine and leather and wood. It is basically UK sei spec I suppose, except we did not get the wood at that time apart from with the V6! The mint green (Onyx I think) is also a rare colour over here at least! Regards, Matthew T.

Thanks for welcome. Onyx it is, then. In register papers, it says "brown". Ignorants..MTXM wrote:Welcome to the Forum and that is an interesting early car with the 2.0i engine and leather and wood. Leather needs special treatment. Seats should be heated but I've heard rumours that it's pretty rare that heating works. Didn't test yet.Dieselman wrote:A bit too much detail there...Rojekti wrote:Cleaned it with wife, she was excited too.

Interior seems the same, altho mine's older and no AC etc. Nice!citroenxm wrote:Ahh haaa.. welcome here.. then you may also recognise this car then...
Lol, let's see what else this language barrier brings to us.Dean wrote:Welcome to the forum, lovely looking car, rare colour too.

Didn't yet test washers. Don't know it they work, I'll see
Some Finnish enthustiastics said the dropping interval varies alot and someone had XM which dropped as soon as you turned the engine off - even thought balls etc were all renewed etc.
This DID feel a bit hard whilst I drove it but don't know - the suspension didn't yet seem to be in right position in the back, althought the familiar, lovely "floating in the water"-feeling did occur..
XM's now on waiting in the garage for hydraulic pipe and bits. I'll get her running next week again and see what she has to say more.

Your English is great, probably better than mine. It was just the way i read it rather than the way it was written.
Cars that sink straight away will have a fairly substantial hydraulic leak internally, a healthy sinker such as yours should stay up for many hours, maybe 12, the front end should be up 24hrs later but its depends on the level of leakage from individual components.

This means that the pump has to work harder and it reduces it's age, I guess..?
